Has anything been said about this? Must of been quite bad to take him off with only a minute to go till half time.
Hamstring according to Big Val on Rayjo Deedar. Says he had a similar tweak at LASK and was back in 2 weeks so hoping for same.
Will be sorely missed if out. Does a lot of running, most of it off the ball to set up chances for others. One of the more unselfish players we have
Kane was on bench last night. Kitching & Williams unlikely to feature this season, but back in training.
Kane was on the bench last night mate. No idea on other two. I would suggest unlikely to feature this season now with so few games left
He was on the bench, but VI still preferred to put Brittain inside when Palmer went off, so I guess he's not quite there yet. Maybe Saturday will be different. Saw something along the lines of Kitching training with the rest of the squad now, but his fitness is still some way off. He might get 15-20 mins to rest Andersen briefly, if we have play off place sealed before the last game.
That's a decent assessment mate, but I doubt VI will risk players who haven't featured this season yet (B Williams and L Kitching) with so much on the line. That said if VI thinks they can contribute, who am I to argue.... In Val we trust
Kane wasn't on the bench guys. he was initially named but then was taken off the list. don't know why. as the team ran out pre kick off herbie was in the tunnel giving the boys a pat on the back as they passed.
Hope it’s a quick one. Frieser is a smashing player. A real team player. I’ve warmed to him more and more.
His last act was to pick the ball up, run forward, put Morris through and carry on his run, all while his hamstring had gone. Not sure what it would take to stop him running!
I like the effort Frieser puts in, but here is the crux. The chance he had, should have been side footed into the corner of the net. He snatched at it and poked it straight at the keeper. At this level (let alone the next league up), we need our forwards to be far more clinical. I don't think any of Frieser, Adeboyejo or Chaplin are championship level forwards, and I think we've got where we are because Dike and Morris are a far higher standard than those 3. Of course I fully expect the counter-argument that those lads have played their part in our success this season and work their nuts off while on the field - which I totally agree with - but if we're to improve as a club we need to couple hard work with quality and some players have to make way to enable that. Not writing anyone off on the basis of one game, but the difference between Frieser and Dike was summed up by how each took their 3/4 chances (copyright: new term being halfway between a half chance and a proper chance).
It must be a mental thing. I'm betting, if that exact same passage of play had occurred in the centre of the pitch with the goalkeeper being a defender that Frieser had to play past to set up an attack he would have managed it easily. They need to pass to someone behind the goal. Easier said than done perhaps. He definitely contributes though. I don't mind Frieser at all.
He should have buried it, you're right. But the another key difference for me between Dike and Frieser is that I don't see Frieser as an out and out striker. He covers a huge amount of ground all across the front line and out wide, and often drops quite deep acting as an extra midfielder when needed. A lot of his work goes unnoticed, but if the game requires it he's an essential player for us. Personally I agree that he's not quite Premier League quality, but let's get there first. And even if we do, I still think he'd be a useful squad player without being a regular, in the same way that Bosancic was in 97-98.
