Sorry if this has already been discussed, but is there any truth in the rumour that Jed McCrory has financed the Frimpong deal and the takeover is definitely going ahead? There seems to be widespread opinion that Cryne wouldn't fork out such big money for Frimpong - 100K + big wages? - and that McCrory is the one behind the deal as he wants to take over the club and do everything he can to keep them in the Championship...
must admit thats what i thought may have happened but who knows. What i do know is takeover talks can bring instability so i've put it on the back burner to talk about when we know what league we will be in. Sure the club can do without it as well. Maybe its just the PC & the club backing Danny to the hilt.
When dismissing the takeover rumours as utter ********, Ben Mansford illustrated Patrick's commitment to the club by listing the new signings he had endorsed and financed. Frimpong was top of the list and had signed that afternoon. So, no. The moon landing was bollacks too, never happened.
Its not utter ****** though - its just not "right" at the moment or still being worked on. I'll be surprised if nothing comes of it at the end of the season but for now lets just stay up to ensure we keep Danny and our best players - along with no alehouse footy (even though weve had some form of it over last couple of seasons).
says who? if he was earning thr reported 25kpw at arsenal then it would have to be a massive jump to earn simialr as the rest of the squad. Sure he could have got a lot more elsewhere so why come to barnsley? Its a mind boggler.
100k? I don't think it broke any transfer records, and i'm not sure we need to sell the club to fund the deal.
How can you be so sure? It's been widely reported in the press that he was on 20k at Arsenal and his wages have been halfed to sign for us. Also a fee of 500k reported. Maybe we got him cheaply and the rest of that figure is his wages until the end of the season.
Arsenal maybe paying something to him still? Or they have paid him off up front so he can take a lower wage elsewhere without him losing a penny. He may even be earning more over the 2nd half of this season than he was by just sticking at Arsenal.
