A Hull supporter sent an email to the club chairman regarding a poor turnout for friendly matches - Adam Pearson personally replied to the lad

Last week i sent out a letter to Adam Pearson regarding the poor turnout for the Pre-Season friendlies. This morning i recieved a reply: Dear Simon Thank you for your recent letter. I totally agree that we need to do more on the friendlies to make them more attractive to season ticket holders. It usually costs around £35,000 to £40,000 to get a European team or Premier League team to put out a strong first eleven, so we try and cover these costs through the gate reciepts. However this years gates go nowhere near paying for the fees or match costs, so the admission price must be wrong. Next Year we will try and provide two attractive games and we will significantly reduce prices for season ticket holders to say £6.00 and £3.00. We will have a good think on this topic and see if we can make the friendlies more attractive to everyone. Yours Sincerely Adam Pearson Chairman, Hull City AFC & The Stadium Management Co.

Now, I didnt attend any of the friendlies, but had the club been willing to drop ticket prices like Adam Pearson intends to do, then I would have gone. But why should I shell out £10 to watch a practice match? Was it Bristol City who let season ticket holders in FREE. Im not asking for this, just a reduced price for either season ticket holders or everyone. Surely the gates would swell? Surely it would be better to have 8,000 fans paying a fiver, rathe rthan 4,000 fans paying a tenner? I know profits would be similar apart from anything (drinks, snacks) other than admission, but also to get the extra support in, and maybe make some new fans in the process.

fair enough but..... if everyone thinks this ought to be shoved up GS's nose, then don't bother. Don't get me wrong, it was a good gesture, but we have to be sensible and not expect personal replies to everything. If he has got the time to personally reply to everyone, then when will he find time to do his actual job as a chairman. (unless of course, chairman don't do anything ff,) just a thought
RE: fair enough but..... It's not just this one thing though. Pearson really engages with the fans.
And why should this be shoved up Shepherd's nose ? I said for all chairmen - I've always found Gordon to be courteous and a true gent.

RE: fair enough but..... I werent getting at that either Nez. TBH each time I have emailed Gordon, I've had a personal reply - without fail. I cant say a bad word about him at all. But I do think he should consider dropping friendly prices. Other than that, cant really fault what he has done for the club.
fair do's... I can see where you are coming from, I just tried to put accross a point that may have been taken then wrong way (like I did), insofar as some people may expect personal responses all the time and every time etc when it may not be practical for one reason or another. but I can't fault GS and from what I have heard he does this anyway... so, in other words, it wasn't meant as a negative to cause a debate
Fair do - try it once, see what happens I like the attitude of their chairman. I think most pre-season friendlies you'll struggle to get more than the hardcore whatever the price, Boston, Halifax even to some extent Wigan. Partly it's holidays, partly it's meaningless games. Man United played at Oxford last night. £15. Full house. I think there are levels of opponent: Champions League qaulifiers - charge what you like Premiership/ 4 or 5 Championship clubs - will attract a big crowd if at the right price Everyone else - nobody if it's too expensive, a few if it's cheap
RE: Fair do - try it once, see what happens Thats all I ask - try it once and if it doesn't work, then so be it.
