Hearing, contrary to reports, <s>#</s>wafc have not made a bid to sign <s>#</s>barnsleyfc midfielder Conor Hourihane, but have made tentative enquiries. Naughty Alan Nixon
I'd imagine discussions take place before any formal bid to get an idea of how much people want. Year on his contract or not, the contribution Conor could make in that time will be worth a lot more than a few hundred grand, I'd take no less than a million Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Patrick Cryne loves Connor so I know it would be a massive loss so I think it would take a lot of money to make the deal happen, but like with LJ I don't think he would stand in his way if Connor wanted to leave and we got a more than fair offer for him.
Wigan would be a backward step for Conor, most of their players are past it and the type of football they play would not suit him. David Perkins won their player of the season FFS!
Nixon is friendly with some of the most active agents in the north. Agents use him for their gain, their clients gain.. and he uses them for his gain, ie gossip for whichever rag he's employed by this year. So he will get lots of stuff correct, especially when he keeps his tweets as vague as he often does. Whereas Giddings and other Radio Sheff lads I'm guessing will be getting their info from the clubs. I would imagine Conor's agent, acting on his clients behalf will be trying to get him a better financial package, be that at Oakwell or elsewhere. Hence these rumours. I will be very sad to see him depart. In terms of what he's achieved in two seasons at the club, you'd have to admit he's probably going to be remembered for years to come as one of our 'greats'. The assists, the goals, the promotion, two trips up the Wembley steps to lift trophies. Not many others in our history can match him, put it that way. A real leader of men. He's 26 isn't he? And yet to earn enough money to be comfortable after football, I imagine. I'm not a fan of us paying certain players way more than the rest of the squad, that doesn't sit right with me. But if I was, then Conor would be that man to pick up the extra coins. Because he's that good, in my opinion. We shall see.
He'd clearly replace Perkins. Makes total sense for Wigan. Pretty sure they're more likely to pay him more than we could too. Yes, it's **** if he leaves for a club most of us see as no bigger/better, but in modern football, money talks. And we don't have much.
