Mifsud has gone for good - Ranson

Malta international Michael Mifsud is unlikely to play for Coventry City again following his loan move to Barnsley, says chairman Ray Ranson.

The striker, 27, who almost left in the summer has finally moved on to Oakwell for now on a short-term deal.

And Ranson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I'm glad it's all behind us for his sake and for our sake.

"He's gone until the end of the season so I think it's safe to say he'll never play for Coventry while I'm chairman."

Ranson added: "I've spent more time talking about Michael Mifsud since I've been chairman than any other player."

Mifsud, who has moved to Oakwell until the end of the season, was close to joining another Championship side Bristol City back in the summer. And he has since fallen out of favour under Chris Coleman, making the majority of this season's appearances from the bench.

The Maltese striker, signed by Micky Adams from Norwegian side Lillestrom in January 2007, scored 23 goals in 95 appearances.

But he will always be best remembered for his two match-winning goals at Old Trafford to beat Manchester United in last season's 2-0 Carling Cup win.

As its the chairman probably counting the the transfer fees he's lost out on when Misfud hasn't agreed terms. I guess they've probably just missed out on another 400K since he's only signed on loan.

Let's hope we're not signing a trouble-cauers here. Didn't he almost sign for Bristol City in the summer but Johnson thought he might upset team spirit or something like that.

As long as he bangs a few goals in over the next few weeks, thats probably the most important thing.

    For me this is worrying

Coventry Chairman says he talks about nowt else.

Simon Davey on Dee Dah last night said he negotiated a dog kennel into his contract before he would sign

Looks like Mr Mifsud is a bit of high maintenance Prima donna.

    Hope I'm wrong.

    Cheers for that Clutch............

Sounds like he had a tough time at Cov and he's happy to be out.

And come on if you had a dog you'd arrange for it to be in a kennel lol.

Davey has got most of our players playing after tough times at previous clubs ie. Foster, JCR, Anderson, Nyatanga when he was
    here, and hopefully Mifsud now.

If he scores enough goals to keep us up ..............

......... he can upset as many folks as he wants as far as I'm concerned - the alternative is Oddjob being a wonderful team player, trying his ****** off in training ............. and missing every sitter that comes his way on our way to League One

On the one hand it's very worrying

Because he sounds an utter lovely person

On the other hand, he might be out to prove a few wrong at Cov and that'll spur him into slapping a few into the old onion bag

It doesnt seem to take much for Davey to fall out with a player either.

Well happily he's only here on loan until the end of the season, so enough time for all parties to work out if they like each other.
