I can reveal that the gaffer Phil Brown and I sat down and talked about my future this morning - and I'm staying at Hull City.

Phil doesn't want me to leave and I don't want to leave. He thinks I still have a big part to play at Hull so we've shaken hands on that and we're both delighted.

The lads are doing so well and of course I want to play a part in that. I'm going to fight for my place but even if I'm not in the team, I'll be the first one giving the lads a gee-up.

I'll be training just as hard as ever: Phil knows if he calls on me then I won't let him down. He couldn't promise me this morning that I'll play more than I have been and like any manager he can only pick 11 players.

But Phil and I have known each other a long time and we were chatting as friends more than anything. We have a fantastic relationship and I'm pleased we were able to talk things over.

To win at Arsenal on Saturday was absolutely amazing. I may not have played but at the end of the day I'm a Hull City fan. I've never been one to hope the team loses if I'm on the bench or whatever. I want us to win every week and I want us to stay in the Premier League.

I really felt a part of that victory anyway. The lads are buzzing at the moment, we're sixth in the league, but we don't want to get carried away. It will be a very tough game at Spurs on Sunday and we can't afford to enjoy the Arsenal victory for too long.

As I said after we got turned over by Wigan a couple of weeks back, it's how you respond to setbacks that's really important. We've shown we've got plenty of character in the squad, we've tightened up all over the pitch and we need to keep that going.

As for the rumour about me becoming player/manager at Grimsby Town, there is no truth in that. In fact I think it might even have been (Hull first team coach) Steve Parkin having a bit of a laugh!

The bottom line is I want to carry on playing for at least another year after this, maybe two, so it's too early to be talking about management. But I've done all my coaching badges and it's certainly something that could be on the cards in the future.

Make sure you read my blog next Monday - when hopefully I'll be talking about another Hull City success, this time at Tottenham's expense.
