Barnsley Sport Paul Reid: Set to lead the side at Blackpool on SaturdayReid fights on in play-off bid SKIPPER Paul Reid is ready to see Barnsley's play-off push through despite a nagging injury which has kept him from training. The centre back has hit peak form in the last three or four games, according to manager Andy Ritchie even though he suffered an ankle problem two weeks ago in an accident during a warm up. Reid was absent from today's first team work out at Oakwell but looks set to lead the side again in the final three games of the campaign, starting at Blackpool on Saturday. Understudy centre back Matt Carbon's fitness was causing some concern today. He has had painkilling injections into his groin but the problem has still not disappeared. Ritchie has had the luxury of a settled back four for the start of the last five games. Bobby Hassell is back fit now he may take over at right back as he did during Monday's match against Southend when Neil Austin came off. Barnsley Reserves signed off their season with a 3-2 defeat at Sheffield United yesterday. "It was disappointing, they had a nightmare start to the game and were 2-0 behind in the first 20 minutes," Ritchie said. "They dominated the game and pulled it back to 2-2 but they let slip again and Uinted scored again." Barnsley were trailing early on as Nicky Law scored twice at Bramall Lane. Richard Kell sent through Nathan Jarman, who rounded keeper Stephen Hernandez, to make it 2-1. With just over an hour gone Barry Conlon tapped in a Thomas Harban centre. The Sheffield side then got the winner with Colin Marrison firing in. Barnsley Reserves: Flinders, Tonge, Harban (Loukes 82), Kell (Batley 85), Laight, Vaughan, Heslop, Wroe, Conlon, Jarman, McParland (Joynes 82). Unused Subs: Naylor, Holt. Blackpool have been dealt a blow after on-loan Blackburn defender Andy Taylor was recalled to Ewood Park.
