    NEXT MATCH

    LIVERPOOL V BARNSLEY
    Saturday 16 February 2008 15:00

The Reds welcome Championship outfit Barnsley to Anfield knowing they will be the overwhelming favourites to book a place in The FA Cup Quarter-finals.

The Tykes reached this stage courtesy of a 1-0 win over Southend in round four and will be hoping it's third time lucky for a lower league side against Liverpool this season, after Luton Town and Havant and Waterlooville both went close to pulling off shock results.

Simon Davey's men are currently lying in the lower echelons of the Championship but he will hope the omens are on his side like they were on his club's last visit to Anfield, back in November 1997, when they were a Premiership side.

Back then they secured a shock 1-0 success and that match could well provide some sort of inspiration as he prepares his men for what will more than likely be the highlight of their season.

liverpool are the laughing stock of the premiership. come on everton / villa / man city - make sure someone (anyone) finishes 4th other than the scousers.

    All true innit?

Apart from the 'lower echelons of the Championship' comment. I'd say we're mid-table.

Liverpool are the overwhelming favourites, it was a shock victory back in '97 and the match is the highlight of our season as the clamour for tickets proved.

    ****, we've just gone 2-0 down.
