OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT Further to reports after the Leeds United game on 30th July 2005 that there were problems with our tannoy system particularly within the East Stand, the club did thorough tests with our contractors last week to try to rectify the problem. We were assured by our contractors on Friday that all was well but that clearly appears not to be the case. The club acknowledges the problem and will do everything it can to try and rectify it before the Yeovil game. Our sincere apologies go to all spectators who were situated within the East Stand on Saturday and again will try our utmost to sort out the problem for Yeovil game on the 20th August. 8th August 2005.
did it not cross the clubs mind to check the bloody thing after the work was carried out? i would get shot to **** if i allowed a contractor to leave and it turned out they hadnt rectified the problem. Also, they recieved reports 3 months ago that it needed mending yet they waited until the leeds game? How thick are they
Not much point checking in an empty stadium Stick a radio on in an empty stadium and you'll hear it due to the acoustics. It also wants testing in a matchday environment.
They did! I spoke to Gordon Shepherd today (more later) and he mentioned the PA system.
In fact they had techinicians in twice before the game. One of the residents around oakwell even complained to the club about the noise because he was on nights and was awoken by the racket.
The company who are responsible for the system have since blamed the difference in the accoustics betweeen and empty and full stadium.

you can tell the difference between if it works or not And every season we did a full sound check at the end of july just to make sure. I know you can tell in an empty stadium because there was less than 40 people in their seats when i got to the ground and the tannoy was fecked then.
the company needs sacking then because the system wasnt working when the stadium was empty. obviously the company didnt check properly and subsequently obviously the club didnt check properly before they signed the work off as completed.
i believe that it WASNT checked properly. maybe they turned it on, stood in the middle of the pitch and went 'aye that sounds ok' but they cant have gone into each stand and checked or they would have noticed instantly that it was inaudible and was exactly the same as it has been for three months. It is one thing to 'check' it, its quite another to check it adequatly.
To add further weight to the above...... I was with Ian Mac at half time in the EasT stand lower and neither of us had a clue what was being said on the tannoy. It was VERY embarassing not to be able to hear the names of the old players, especially as they were walking off in our direction and we had no idea who they were. ("excuse me, but who are you?") Get it sorted now.
Name dropper !!!!! and sparrows prefer bread on the lawn !!!ff
I beleive it... I beleive it was the East Stand problems they were there to rectify. I'm told by the chairman that when they fixed the East Stand PA and it was working.
Has it entered your head the possibility that it may be an intermittent fault? Perhaps the people who were actually there and heard it working may not be telling porkies about something so minor.
AM - you seem to very negative about the club. Any reason?

the way i have been treated by the club the way my custom has been ignored by the club, the way my attempts to contact them in the past have been ignored. they do tend to make you a bit sceptical really. Do you think that the club is running professionally then? I mean having one mand honeymoon disrupt the entire media face of BFC, having TV's that arent turned on, having a PA system that doesnt work, having embarassing attempts at 'entertainment' before the games etc etc. I give praise where it is due but i refuse to blindly accept the faults of the club merely because i am a 'supporter'. I think that that kind of attitude does more harm than good.
i know theres no conspiracy but there is a lot of failings at the club and dare i say it, a lot of incompetance.
Missing Emails GS mentioned his frustration at the the mention of missing emails and he is adamant that they didn't receive them. Now maybe their's a technical problem somewhere that either you or the club don't realise. (For example spam trap or sending from a hotmail account etc.)
What address did you send the email to?

to the website one which i forget now the point with emails is that there are lots of people that send them and dont recieve any reply. Assuming that the club is telling the truth (and i do believe GS, i dont think he is a liar) then the problem must be at their end. This problem was raised with the club well over 6 months ago so surely they have had all the time in the world to rectify it.
RE: to the website one which i forget now i think it might have to be baby steps mate. first priority had to be financial stability, from the reports that seems to be getting there. season tickets have been sorted. ticket system, buying etc seems to be getting better, sponsorship has been increased, ok i know some of us dont like its positining on teh shirt but after all, its all cash for a hard up club, 3 big signings over the summer, new programme which looks the dogs... i think theres just a very long list of things that need/needed to be done and they're being crossed off in order. thats my take.
About the shirts i absolutly hate the home shirt because of the perrys on the back but (and this is just a guess) i think maybe the club listened? On the away shirt it is much higher up and out of the way (whilst still being easily read). i dont know if that is just a coincidence because of the designs or if the club listened to the complaints and moved the sponsor for the away shirt. If that was the case then good on them. IF not, then err, nice shirt anyway.
