SIMON HESLOP (Waiting for him to agree so offered contract) BARNSLEY Football Club are waiting to here whether highly-rated youngster Simon Heslop will commit his long-term future to Oakwell after offering the Academy starlet a two-year professional contract. The 19-year-old has impressed during his time with the Academy and enjoyed a spell on work experience with Kidderminster Harriers last season. Simon made 26 first team appearances at Aggborough, netting one goal. ROBERT ATKINSON BARNSLEY youngster Robert Atkinson has agreed a new deal at Oakwell which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2008. Robert came up through the Academy and made his first team debut as a substitute against Luton Town in March 2004. He made a further appearance for the Reds at Port Vale during April 2005 campaign. The 19-year-old spent much of last season with Scarborough, turning out 22 times for the Conference side. THOMAS HARBAN YOUNG Reds defender Thomas Harban has agreed a 12-month contract extension which will keep him at Oakwell until the summer of 2007. Academy graduate Thomas has been a regular with the Reds reserve team this season although he is still waiting for his first team bow. The Barnsley-born 20-year-old full back has this week agreed a new a 12-month deal with the Reds. RYAN LAIGHT RISING Reds starlet Ryan Laight has agreed a new 12-month contract at Oakwell which will keep him at the Club for another year. Ryan made his first team debut as a late substitute in the 2-0 win over Bristol City at Oakwell back in February 2006 and has been a regular in the reserves for the last few seasons. The 20-year-old has come up through the Academy system at Oakwell.
Will you have mixed feelings about Nick Colgan's contract? I'm sure thay will offer him a new contract (and hee seems like he will accept it). But where does that leave your mate Scott? Stephen
Yes of course. Nick has played brilliantly this season and deserves a new contract but I think Scott should be tried as well. I thought the idea was for them both to compete for the 1st team place. However, if Scott feels he needs to move then I hope he goes somewhere where he will get regular football. I know the money will benefit the club, but there isn't much point moving from one subs bench to another.
