In response to my complaint about the phone-in where a Barnsley fan was cut off after beating the presenter hands-down despite repeated interruption, whereas the Blunts fan was allowed to rant on ad infinitum. Hi Brian. Your email concerning Football Heaven on November 28th 2008 has been passed on to me. Firstly, thank you for taking the trouble to get in touch. Feedback like yours is always welcome, no matter what its nature, and is useful when we come to review the content of our shows. I've reviewed the programme in question and feel that on this occasion our usual high standards were not met and one caller was cut off too hastily. The presenter in question is away this week so I am unable to talk to him about this particular show. I do note, however, that it was at a time in the show when we were due to go to our travel report. This comes at a fixed time each hour and if we are more than a minute late we lose the report. It appears to me that we lost this caller too hastily because there was a danger of missing the deadline for the travel report. Presenting a live phone in programme is a high pressure environment and, in the haste to get to the travel bulletin, our usual standards and courtesies to callers were not met. For this I apologise. Yours Mike. Andy Giddings I Take It? Paul Walker presented last night and it's Seth tonight. So Giddings must have the week off.
I know Mike Woodcock He's actually likely to be pro-Barnsley as he was our reporter for the old Morning Telegraph. My dad speaks highly of him as well, so his politics must be left of centre!
RE: He's obviously bound by "editorial policy", Doesn't mean he isn't going to give him a kick up the jacksy. He's not going to slaughter him in public.
I'm still awaiting a reply I'm not too hopeful, becuase I SPECIFICALLY asked them not to make any excuses about "having to take the travel news". They could easily have returned to hte caller afterwards - as they have done on several occasions before. I think they would have been better having two presenters on the show that particular evening - it was obviously going to be a tricky assignment (even for an experienced presenter). However, I think Giddings nailed his colours to the mast on this issue, and whatever happens now that can't be undone. It wasn't about cutting off one particular caller too soon, he was BIASED throughout the show. Well done on writing in (and also getting a reply). Stephen
