Watt Oakwell stay in doubt STEVEN Watt may have played his last game for Barnsley. The defender on loan from Chelsea has been back in London having a groin problem checked out. The final game of his one month stay at Oakwell is due on Saturday and although the clubs are in discussions over extending the arrangement, there is no guarantee the 20-year-old Scot will be in the squad going to Swindon for Saturday's League One fixture. Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie was today busy trying to beat tomorrow's deadline for loan signings. Meanwhile he is keeping his options open on former Middlesbrough centre back Dean Gordon. The 32-year-old who has been playing in Cyprus is clear to appear for Barnsley Reserves against Bradford City next week. To breakthrough UEFA red tape and allow him to play in a Pontin's League game on trial, Gordon has registered as a non-contract player at Northern League club Crook Town. Barnsley's next opponents Swindon were sent crashing out of the LDV Vans Trophy last night with a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough. Former Leicester striker Trevor Benjamin was in form as the League Two team got the better of a Swindon side propping up League One. On-loan midfielder Jamie Hand fired Peterborough ahead with a smart 11th-minute strike after being released by Calum Willock. Benjamin then doubled the lead with a fierce 55th-minute penalty after Willock had been hacked to the ground by Peterborough defender Jerel Ifil. Swindon halved the deficit when Christian Roberts planted a powerful shot past goalkeeper Lee Harrison from an acute angle in the 86th minute.
