Brian hopes for Reds bonus point BARNSLEY'S man of the moment, Brian Howard, is the first to admit a draw at Cardiff tonight would be a bonus. Howard and company have climbed the league thanks to back to back wins at Luton and over QPR - both relegation candidates. The challenge this evening is against a team with real promotion ambitions. And the January transfer window saw six new players at the club. "At Cardiff if we can take a point away it would be massive because they're hitting form again." Howard admitted. Cardiff have won their last two and former Barnsley favourite Michael Chopra hit a hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Leicester six days ago. That and a victory art Wolves signalled Cardiff had turned the corner from some dismal Championship form. Chopra confessed that he felt down as the team endured a 13-match run without a win. "I admit that a couple of games ago it was not me, low on confidence and even when I don't score I normally contribute to the team. "But I went through a period where things were not going right and the ball would hit my foot or leg and go away from me," he said. "At one point the only thing that I was doing was working hard and running around; during that bad patch I even felt that I was one or two yards off the pace of everything. I realise that I have a lot of reasonability on my shoulders and I pleased with that it doesn't worry me and I have to take that good and the bad. "In every team for different qualities certain players make teams tick and I feel I am one of those players because goals win games and we have a strong defence." Back In August, on the first day of the season, Cardiff shot themselves into a 2-0 lead at Oakwell. Howard got a consolation goal for Barnsley. New arrivals since then include Premier class. Former Aston Villa midfield player Peter Whittingham and Simon Walton, who is ex-Charlton, are both likely starts tonight.. Striker Chopra looks set to continue alongside Steven Thompson despite the arrival of Dutchman Iwan Redan, who quit the Willem II club after a training ground bustup with a team-mate. Barnsley were understood to be tracking Redan before he decided to sign for Cardiff until the end of the season.
