Fist mini article says that everton could be interested in a possible move involving the trade of howard for de silva plus 1m in our direction, i know its all rumors but just woundered how many of you would be happy with the trade?

Secondly Boro' are know bein linked with muller personally i think this could be his best offer yet, with schwarzer injured he'd be straight into the first team

It gets more depressing by the minute, and I'm trying to be positive. I really hope we don't go about selling our best players before the team has really got going. That does show a lack of ambition in my opinion.

A million quid, plus Anderson for Howard.. surely we'd consider that?

    If its in the contract,

then its nota lack of ambition but a fact of life.

I am guessing Muller wouldnt have come without the clause.

I would hope not. I'd rather stick with Howie and one million less in the bank.

    Perhaps

Brian Howard & Heinz Muller like playing for Barnsley and don't want to leave ? Even if either , or both , were to depart, there's also the possibility that Simon Davey has targeted potential replacements . He's got an eye for a bargain and Barnsley Football Club are now a far more attractive employer than they were in the summer , whether the players coming in are from the home market or abroad .

Howard = De Silva + £1m - put the £1m on the opposite side of the equation and it might just balance!

I'm not even convinced Howard would be wanted by a bottom-half premiership team, so any talk of him going to Everton is utterly ridiculous.

These articles are clearly written by people who have no knowledge of him or the club.

I don't want to see Howard leave but on the other hand I think that De Silva makes a massive difference to our side. I notice with interest that BrianMahoneysWaist says think Spanish, think midfield. I respect what he has to say as he usually seems to be right. Is the Spaniard a replacement for Howie and then the spare money would go on a striker?
It's certainly gonna be interesting come January. The one I really don't want to lose is Muller. A great goalie like him would be impossible to replace. Anyhow we're gonna have to trust Davey's judgement, he hasn't done so bad with his signings so far? Apart from strikers that is, so maybe he'll get it right this time.

    RE: Perhaps

I like your thinking but I'm afraid modern day footballers are largely motivated by income (aren't most of us?). At nearly 30 years old Muller is going to want his big move to the Prem sooner rather than later. The release clause (if true) will be roundly critiscised but at the end of the day he probably wouldn't have signed without it.
I like Howard but I don't really think he can hack it with the big boys. If we could get De Silva and maybe as much as 1.5 million then we would be foolish not to take it.

How about letting them go and putting clauses in their new contracts to benefit us ?

Da Silva and a million quid for Howard? It's a no-brainer.

I love Brian Howard, I have his name on my shirt, but if it came to choosing, even though they are 2 different players, I would choose Da Silva + a million.

I hated writing that, because I truly think we have to build a team around players such as Howard.

Currently, I would not, ever want him to leave the Club

    Agree totally

We have to trust Davey's judgement.

We have no choice anyway, but it's interesting to discuss the whys and wherefores.
