By Simon MeeksBarnsley BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey has taken his squad for a chill-out stay in the Lake District before the last leg of their Championship survival quest. Seventeen of the first team squad – excluding the four players on international duty – arrived in Cumbria yesterday. They will return to Barnsley tomorrow. Davey said: "We're doing some training, team bonding, problem solving as well as outdoor activities, clay pigeon shooting and archery. "The action has been pretty non-stop for the last two or three months, it's a chance for the lads to get to know one-another better. "For instance, Istvan Ferenczi does his training and goes home. It was a chance for him to be with the lads. "He mentioned to me that he'd done national service in the Hungarian Army, so naturally I made sure I was on his paintballing team!" Meanwhile, Barnsley keeper Nick Colgan has joined the Republic of Ireland squad, Grant McCann is away with the Northern Ireland squad, Lewin Nyatanga is with Wales and Peter Rajczi is with Hungary. Davey admits he was surprised by Ferenczi's omission from the Hungary squad. Despite scoring six goals in his last seven games, Ferenczi has been left out of games against Montenegro and Moldova. Davey said: "Both Istvan and Peter have been in top form for us since settling in here. "Obviously Istvan is getting all the headlines because of the goals he's been scoring, but Peter is a different type of player. "Perhaps if you looked at Hungary's squad they might not need a target man like Istvan, but as long as his omission does not affect his form for us that's all right by us." Barnsley's home game with Birmingham on Easter Monday (April 9) has a 3pm kick-off. Birmingham are offering free coach travel to Oakwell for all their season ticket holders. Is that really a good idea? Davey said: "We're doing some training, team bonding, problem solving as well as outdoor activities, clay pigeon shooting and archery. They're doing clay pigeon shooting, archery and problem solving. Can we really expect him to make it back?
"Birmingham are offering free coach travel to Oakwell for all their season ticket holders." Take note Gordon.
Excellent Idea Take some pressure off. Nowt up with that, glad to see they've taken my ideas on board...
good point, but They're going to the lakes. On a totally unrelated and seperate note, I saw somebody looking a lot like Antony Kay asking how much it would cost to have a large concrete block delivered to cumbria. Before my letterbox gets filled, I said looking like him, not actually him.
I hope they are based near Newby Bridge. It's an ideal base for visiting Windermere, Coniston - or even Ullswater. It's not far to Kendal - and maybe 40 minutes to Barrow or Keswick. If Simon knows his onions - they'll be in the woods making bird noises.
not sure but its not the first time he's done something like this From the BBC: "We have addressed it for our match against Cardiff. We have given a reduction to our season ticket holders so that they can buy up to six tickets at £5 each to bring friends and family. " Would be good to see barnsley do that.
RE: I hope they are based near Newby Bridge. I wonder if there's an owl sanctuary nearby that they could visit?
Hopefully. Or maybe a Spice Museum? They could visit "The Aquarium of the Lakes". £7.50 to look at an Otter. Better value than watching Grant McCann I suppose.
Have you got a battery for an Eriksson? Were you drunk last night? I was. Sick everywhere. Woke up against the sink like this. I'm actually having a wander to Norwich later in the year with my mate & his two dalek kids. I've already planned a tour of the Colemans mustard factory. Can't wait.
That's textbook. If there's a canteen there - The temperature inside this apple pie is over 1000 degrees. If I squeeze it, a jet of molten bramley apple will squirt out. Could go your way; could go mine. Either way, one of us is going down!!!!
Should anyone take the piss out of the kids like.

RE: Have you got a battery for an Eriksson? I shall be visiting Norwich the weekend of the Ipswich game. I'm hoping to listen to Allan's Deep Bath in the evening.
I'd assume that the 17 are these Bobby Hassell Paul Heckingbottom Paul Reid Sam Togwell Istvan Ferenczi Brian Howard Neil Austin Adam Eckersley Kyel Reid Marc Richards Daniel Nardiello Martin Devaney Rob Atkinson Dwayne Mattis Ritchie Jones David Lucas Robbie Williams / Antony Kay
RE: So, at least 1 on that list hasn't gone. Might be down to If I was to hazard a guess i'd say that one from the following hasnt gone. Kay, Mattis, Williams, Lucas. Kay: out of favour Williams: 4th choice behind eckersley, hecky and austin Mattis: Probably still injured Lucas: Not exactly first team
