<div class="headline" id="ds-headline">By Simon Meeks</div><div class="ds-firstpara" id="ds-firstpara">BARNSLEY are about to find out if Cardiff's interest in winger Martin Devaney is serious.</div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">The Welsh club have been linked with the 27-year-old this summer. He will cost Cardiff a fee, having just agreed a new one-year contract at Oakwell. Cardiff manager Dave Jones, back from his family holiday in Florida, and chairman Peter Ridsdale are moving closer to a number of targets. "We are talking to several players and we believe three, at least, will be in pretty quickly," said Ridsdale. "Certainly, we want them in for the start of pre-season work." Cardiff have brought in only one player so far this summer, full-back Tony Capaldi from Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer, and Jones wants another four or five in to complete his squad for the new campaign. Barnsley boss Simon Davey has made it plain that his close-season dealings in the transfer market are not complete with the acquisition of strikers Miguel Mostto and Kayode Odejayi, midfielder Andy Johnson, right-back Marciano Bruma and the departure of Marc Richards, Paul Hayes, Antony Kay and Neil Austin. If Devaney does move, Davey is likely to increase his bids to bring back West Ham winger Kyel Reid, who was on loan at Oakwell last season</div>
But Didn't............. Shepherd say in his end of season statement that Disco had signed for two years (chinny)
What is going on? Are we trying to make the team as dull as possible? Ship out midfield creativity and bring in a few workhorses? Super, I hope these new strikers can convert every chance they have cos if we carry on at this rate we won't be creating many for 'em.
What are you on about? Where does it say we are actively trying to sell him? We have just given him a new two year deal. No doubt if Cardiff do put a good bid for him and he wants to go then we will have no choice but until that time its merely speculation.
I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for you to post on the 'real life connections' thread by mistake. 'I'm Gordon Shepherder nt - S.M.'
to be fair, even I can claim that. They just need putting into the right sequence. PaulD might be able to shed some light on my chances of calling Devaney to see if he actually wants to go to Cardiff.
Probably just some journalist with little to write about. The amount of speculation that goes on in the close season, makes one wonder what these journalists would report if there was no soccer.
Hayes shipped out, Howard consigned to the left and now rumours of Devaney going. Our 3 most creative players. That and some of the tactics Davey used makes mewonder what type of football we aim to play. Dull as Dishwater Davey?
RE: Hayes shipped out, Howard consigned to the left and now hayes wanted to go!! who says howard is consigned to the left??? you dont have talk some tripe! will you continue to slag our manager off until we get capello in???
