It is understood that the clubs have agreed a fee in excess of £100,000 for the 27-year-old who has won nine caps for Northern Ireland.

Barnsley turned down a bid from Scnuthorpe earlier this month.

His appearance in Satur-day's game at Oakwell looks to be his last for Barnsley.

McCann arrived at Barnsley on loan from Cheltenham and was signed 12 months ago for £100,000.

Will the Reds miss McCann? Post your comments below.

In 41 league appearances he scored three goals.

Lewin Nyatanga and Jon Macken, the Derby County duo wanted by Barnsley boss Simon Davey, are expected to be in Derby's squad for the FA Cup replay at Sheffield Wednesday tonight.

On loan left-back Tininho had his first training session with Barnsley yesterday after his temporary move from West Brom.

He could make his debut at QPR on Saturday.

Barnsley boss Simon Davey said: "We'll assess him during the week.
"He is a quality player, I've seen him play and had good reports from Portugal. He's a player West Brom were happy to pay quarter of a million for four months ago."

Meanwhile, QPR have made a £1.8 million bid for Tottenham winger Wayne Routledge.

Routledge has not been able to establish himself in the Spurs side since moving to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2005.

He has been loaned out to Portsmouth and Fulham, but has now been told he can leave on a permanent basis.

Birmingham and West Brom have both been linked with Routledge in recent weeks but QPR have now made the first move.

Bad News

He's scored more goals than most and it leaves us yet another player short. We already needed to bring in about six players this month and so better make it seven now. I'd be disapointed if they get rid of one of our top scorers so cheaply.

oh aye, he's got a right goal scoring record

he's scored in 3 games out of the 44 that he has played for barnsley and one of those was his debut, so since then its games played: 43, games scored in: 2.
Also apart from the one on his debut back in novemer 06, he hasnt managed a goal from open play yet.

This season in the league, he's scored three goals. How many others in our team have scored that many? Also his goal at Scunny was from open play.

erm it was from a 72nd minute freekick

ok so he actually scored from the rebound but it was a rebound from a freekick was it not?

or are you saying that if howard crosses the ball in from a freekick and souza heads it in then he has scored from open play too?

I would agree

If it was deflected from a free kick however a rebound off the wall then a half volley is classed as open play.
