    DAN: no more super-sub!
GOAL hero Daniel Nardiello hopes he has finally ditched his Barnsley super-sub role.
The striker, who scored the game-winning penalty at Walsall which secured a play-off semi-final against Huddersfield, has come off the bench 23 times in league games this season and started only 11.
The 23-year-old ex-Manchester United trainee was given advance notice that he would have a big part in the end-of-season must-win game long before Paul Hayes went down injured.
"Last week the gaffer (manager Andy Ritchie) said he didn't want me to be playing against Bradford but I should be playing against Walsall. I just got my mind right for the game and I was really pleased to get a starting chance," he said.
He repaid Ritchie's faith by winning and scoring an 83rd-minute penalty.
Nardiello recalled: "I just remember getting the ball in the corner and players were shouting for me to lay it off, but I just wanted to turn and beat the defender. I got between two of them and one clipped me and I went down. The ref was right there to see it.
"As soon as I got up I went over and got the ball. A few of the Walsall players were trying to give me a bit of grief, saying all sorts to me, but I took it on and was really pleased to put the ball in the back of the net."
It was his sixth goal of the season.
He added: "I always enjoy playing football. It was a special occasion. The lads knew we had to do something and before it and at half-time we were really up for it. wWe're really pleased with the end of the game obviously.
"We were well on top in the first half and deserved to be in front.
"I had a couple of chances, the keeper saved one and they cleared a couple off the line and then Rico (Marc Richards) got the first goal.
"We could have gone in 2-0 or 3-0 up at half-time. We did boss the first half.
"We were always confident that we could win the game and I was confident that if we went on playing our game we were going to get another goal. I had another chance where I cut back on to my left foot and I was very disappointed that I couldn't hit the target from there.
"But we kept on plugging away and I kept on working hard and I got the penalty."
