The midfield player injured an ankle in training yesterday and is a major doubt, it was revealed today.</div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">Reds manager Simon Davey said: "To lose any player who has been in the 11 is a big blow, and Brian has been a regular starter. I think he is struggling. "But we have other players who could step in, and it would be somebody's else's turn to put in a performance." Davey must also check on Kyel Reid, who has been suffering from swollen glands, but the Reds chief <div id="ds-mpu"></div>hopes that the winger will be fit. Daniel Nardiello and Martin Devaney are expected to be ready to play. Davey will be eager to retain players who have been key in bringing three wins in a row and lifting the club close to Championship safety. Striker Nardiello is the club's key man. Five goals in the last three games have brought nine points. Said Davey: "Obviously Nards is scoring goals. He's one who is performing at the moment. He's one who is in my starting 11, but the important thing for me at the moment is his workrate, and long may that continue." Nardiello came off before the end of last week's win over Crystal Palace nursing a sore calf. Winger Devaney has been rested this week with an Achilles problem. Davey will want to retain Devaney, Reid and Howard in his settled four-man midfield alongside Sam Togwell. Victory tomorrow would seal Barnsley's Championship survival. </div><div class="ds-modifieddate">Last Updated: 27 April 2007</div><div class="ds-paging"><div class="centre">Page 1 of 1</div></div>
On the official site, he is very doubtfull for tomorrow, and most of the team are injured, if we are to beleive the official site. Still bad news about Howard. (doh)
This sort of thing was being said before the game at Southend. They even went as far as to say that certain key people would not play and come the day they did with no further mention. Just trying to con Leicester - hope it works!
