Bolton have already been linked with the free scoring midfielder. Reports are suggesting Sheffield United turned down a £2m bid for Sheffield United's Michael Tonge from Bolton, who may now increase their interest in Howard. If they were willing to pay £2 million of Tonge £3 million isn't too much to ask for Howard in my opinion.
Also Tonge appears to have been their first choice. If they were only willing to offer £2 million for their first choice, why would they then offer £3 million for Howard, their second choice?
It doesn't say they were only willing to pay £2 million for him, just that it was turned down. Howard is a better player than Tonge INMO so if £2 million is th egoing rate for him then we should be asking for £1 million more at least
If Tonge is worth £2 million..............then Howard is worth at least £6 million FFS.......Tonge !!! He struggled to get into the Blunts side last season Has Tonge been picked for the championship top 11 players ??? Typical Barnsley people..................always want it cheap.........never had nowt, dunt want owt
Dont talk daft he started almost all their games last season Tonge and Howard are probably fairly similarly valued, with Tonge slightly higher in my opinion Just because Howard plays for Barnsley doesnt some how mean he is worth more Jay's comment above is the most sensible. If Tonge is their first choice then they will be prepared to pay less for Howie. I get the impression that Tonge is much more highly regarded generally within football than Howie
PFA team of the year
Howard in, no Tonge. PFA is "within football" is it not?

Tonge played 52 out of a possible 53 games for sheffield united, Howard played in 47 out of the same possible 53 games for Barnsley
Reckon Howard's price this summer maybe a little higher than it would have been due to "that goal" against liverpool, otherwise I'd agree with you
I dont disagree My point is more Tonge has been talked about as a potential premiership player for a while whilst Howard only this season
