Hero Howard new deal bid

BARNSLEY goal hero Brian Howard still has not agreed a new contract at Oakwell.

The 24-year-old top scorer could leave the club in the summer on a free transfer.
"I've had a chat with the chairman a while ago and an offer has not yet gone to my agent in writing as far as I know," he said.
"I'm sure that we'll have a sit down soon.
"The chairman knows that I would like to sign if he comes up with a decent contract. He's said that he's keen to keep me so we're going in the right direction. It's just about getting the right contract sorted now."
Barnsley manager Simon Davey stressed ahead of tonight's transfer deadline that he does not want to lose any of his senior players.
Paul Hayes was omitted from the Barnsley squad last night fuelling speculation that his future is unsettled.
Howard hit Barnsley's second goal last night in the 2-0 win over QPR. It was a chip from 20 yards into the top left hand corner of stranded keeper Simon Royce's net.
Yet Howard insisted he had scored better goals: "I think the one against Cardiff on the first day of the season was a bit better. When I was at Swindon, I actually chipped the keeper from a bit further out. It's something that I've got in the locker," he explained.
The win takes Barnsley out of the relegation-zone to sixth from bottom.
Barnsley keeper Nick Colgan has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad to play in San Marino next week. Midfielder Grant McCann has been selected for Northern Ireland, who play Wales.
Barnsley's Academy team are in FA Youth Cup action tonight at Oakwell when they take on Birmingham City (kick-off 7pm).
The winners will play at Manchester United in the quarter finals.
Manchester United secured their place in the last eight last night with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Shepherd's probably having it hand written. You have to do

these things properly. Amateurish behaviour again, it's not that hard to negotiate a contract.

How much do you want Brian?

What about we say..?

No, OK then, if we say .....

Agreed. Shake hands and exit

(Then withdraw the offer a week later of course.)
