ROC bottom?? Seriously, ROC bottom? These people are paid journalists, right? They actually get paid for headlines like that? I'm writing and editing stuff for several online marketing companies and not getting paid very well for it, but I would hang my head in shame if I produced something like that. I wonder if The Star has any vacancies for editors/proof readers? Where do I sign up?
No, it's a headline from their online page. I don't know if the paper version is the same. It's a preview of our match tonight with some comments from Jason Scotland.
That's the online headline - http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley/roc-bottom-barnsley-face-two-toughies-1-6100287 The printed article that's on page 45 says 'Rock-bottom Reds 'up for it'.
Ok, so they DO have editorial intervention. Obviously been corrected but too late when it has already been published incorrectly. My point is that that "professional" media sources should do better than that. Not criticising the odd typing error that slips through but a banner headline sort of jumps out at you, doesn't it?
Also, Rock Bottom Barnsley doesn't have the same ring to it as Rock Bottom Reds. (Not that I like us being called either of those things).
