And after the battling 2-0 victory over the ten-man Pilgrims, Davey is calling on his side to string together some welcome victories to climb up the Championship. With the January transfer window looming, the 35-year-old Welshman is keen to strengthen his squad, especially with £1.2 million striker Iain Hume sidelined indefinitely with a fractured skull. "We know what positions we need to look at and where we need to strengthen the group, but it's always nice to say we've got the money," revealed Davey. "Patrick has always been supportive of me and, if I go for somebody, he'll always be by my side. "But unfortunately the players I want are not always available. Sometimes it's difficult, so it means we have to do recruitment abroad and in different areas "You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know who the best strikers are in this division, but are they going to come to Barnsley Football Club? No they won't. "Those players go to Wolves, Birmingham and Reading, so then you look in the division below where there's a lot of competition for the best players." Davey has been applauded for his industrious recruitment policy, one which has yielded German goalkeeper Heinz Muller, Argentinian midfielder Hugo Colace, Peruvian striker Miguel Mostto and Brazilian playmaker Anderson De Silva. "Sometimes you have to be a little shrewder and cast your net a little bit further. And you sometimes have to take a gamble," added Davey. "That's where I've been lucky with Patrick, he trusts my gambling. "I've got a fantastic relationship with Patrick, we're learning to man-manage each other, we second guess each other a lot of the time. It's a nice recipe for a good relationship</div>
Maybe it's just me but does anyone else get the impression that there's already a signing on the way and that it's another unknown foreigner? Sounds like SD is getting his excuses in early.
'Davey has been applauded for his industrious recruitment policy, one which has yielded German goalkeeper Heinz Muller, Argentinian midfielder Hugo Colace, Peruvian striker Miguel Mostto and Brazilian playmaker Anderson De Silva.'</p> Errr...don't think we have applauded him for that one! On the contrary, that is a pefect example of when the policy goes wrong.</p> </p>
Davey has been applauded for his industrious recruitment policy, one which has yielded German goalkeeper Heinz Muller, Argentinian midfielder Hugo Colace, Peruvian striker Miguel Mostto and Brazilian playmaker Anderson De Silva. Kim Christensen....???
I like how the article puts Mostto in the same sentence with the likes of Muller, Colace and De Silva.
"we are learning to man manage each other" Thats Cryne in Davey`s pocket then. Arms length Patrick or he`ll **** us up. Spend Spend Spend former academy boss says a lot about our youth system and what he thinks of it. Davey OUT.
Davey has got a very brown tounge. E.I.Addio, no it's not the same type of brown tongue you get every turn!
