The 25-year-old Jamaican international joined Barnsley from Southend in August 2007 for £175,000. "When you get bids of this size, it's a big temptation," said Davey. "Sometimes you have to deal with losing players. I hope he stays but I have to be realistic and there's a chance he may leave."
£1 million is no where near enough, it would be crazy to sell for that price and expect us to sign a player of equal or better talent for that money
Don't think he's the type to start crying out for a move But a transfer to Reading? I don't think he could ask for a better one than that. Chance of Premiership football, move back down South, more money. Unfortunately, unless we get a billionaire investor, it's always going to be the case that we're a selling club. This one could have serious implications on our Championship status though.
RE: Don't think he's the type to start crying out for a move Bet southend and Rotherham fans would have something to say about that
RE: Don't think he's the type to start crying out for a move If i'm correct he refused to play for Southend because he was dead set on a move to Barnsley? They rejected 2 bids from us and ended up having to sell him in the end. Lets hope this is not the case for us. :'(
Little bit different here I'd say At Rotherham he was still quite young, first time up north etc - perhaps had something to do with it? Don't think he requested a transfer or anything at Southend and said that if the clubs couldn't agree a deal, he'd be happy to stay.
Bear in mind what we paid for JCR - £175K and how little we paid for Muller, De Silva and Colace and include Leon as hes been mentioned as another thats attracting interest. If Davey can go out and get these players and sell them on for large profit then I wouldnt discount him bringing in similar players to replace them.
Could probably get the pair of them for around 500K to 750K at the most. The way Davey was speaking on Radio Sheffield, the offers turned down sound a bit above a million. Probably nearer 1.5 and holding out for nearer 2 million.
