Reds braves lift Ritchie BOSS Andy Ritchie saluted his Barnsley braves following their first League One win of the season away from Oakwell. "They put their bodies in, their heads in, even their faces in the firing line, it takes real courage to do that," Ritchie insisted. But despite the 3-0 scoreline Ritchie admitted he had been critical of the team particularly at half-time. "I wouldn't say it was heated but I felt a few home truths had to be said. We'd given Gillingham too many chances in the first half. They could have had their noses in front," he stressed. Ritchie rated Chris Shuker and Paul Hayes' goals before the interval. "They were both very good but I felt in the second half we went a little bit gung ho. "We settled down and then looked really solid." Ritchie said he had rested Robbie Williams as Dale Tonge returned to the back four. Antony Kay took over from injured centre back Matt Carbon while Nicky Wroe was the replacement for unfit Stephen McPhail. "The whole team did well. You have to take what you can from football, build up a confidence so that every time you go out you think yo''re going to win. We're not there yet, we're a long way off it," he added. "We have to reproduce the solid part of this performance at Milton Keynes on Saturday." A stop for fast food slowed up the team bus's journey home last night. The coach's on-board generator failed and there was no power for the microwave used to heat meals on long trips. Barnsley decided to feed the players and staff at a burger chain on the way back from Kent. Barnsley picked up their first away win of the season last night following Saturday's home defeat of Forest at Oakwell. Can it get better? Is this the start of something good for Andy Ritchie's men?
I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. fecking microwave meals!!!!??? You would think we could stretch to a prematch meal some where prior to away games?
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. Could be Tesco Finest or M&S... that's where the cash is going.
WTF? brain has finally gone They probably do stop for a prematch meal. microwave stuff is for the journey home.
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. Burger chain? Great stuff. We're really getting it right off the field.
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. To be fair, they'd just won 3-0 away from home and had a five hour journey so probabby weren't due home till after 3am. Burger and chips isn't going to kill them ffs. There's not exactly much choice at service stations anyhow.
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. Better than a Ginsters and a knee trembler from the resident ho.
I think they deserved a burger A couple of pints too. I reckon a good diet is essential, but there's nowt wrong with the occaisional lapse, particualrly after celebrating a victory. I wonder if their was a Tofu burger for the pilates set.
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. It's almost as good as when Tim Henman had a lovely cheese sandwich before he went and got his árse ripped out by somebody at Wimbledon. They ought to have given them 10 pints each and a fry-up.
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. Thought burger was on the way back? What's alternative? Tell you what lads I know you've run yr ballax off and are starving but we're not stopping on this five hour journey as we don't reckon it's good for you. Fix yersens a salad when you get back
RE: I think we've just found out why our away form is ****.. A job for fragile spine. On board healthy catering.
RE: It's not the best How did you cook it? Trick is to marinade it then fry till crispy. And squeeze liquid out before you start. Tastes of nowt on it's own.
