    &quot;I want every team to think they will have a hard game when they play Barnsley and hopefully that will push us further up the table and get some stability into the club,&quot; he demanded earlier this week.

    Barnsley, whatever some might claim to the contrary, can count themselves among the toughest propositions in the division right now but in Northern Ireland's Kyle Lafferty they face a young striker bang in form and, according to his international manager, with the ability to prise open some of the most miserly defences Europe has to offer.

    The Burnley striker, who is expected to spearhead his team's attack at Oakwell tomorrow, showcased his talents inside the Rasunda Stadium on Wednesday with a performance likely to have Stephen Foster, Lewin Nyatanga and Co reaching for the slow-mo button on their video remote control.

    Lafferty's effort - his third for the province - perfectly illustrated the skills which have attracted admiring glances from a host of Premier League clubs and his equaliser against Sweden kept alive the visitors' slim hopes of qualifying for next year's Euro 2008 finals.

    &quot;Kyle is capable of doing that,&quot; beamed manager Nigel Worthington after watching the youngster ghost past two defenders and curl a right-foot shot high into the net.

    &quot;He worked hard, was very neat and tidy for most of the game and to score a goal like that against Sweden is great.&quot;

    However Lafferty's recent schedule - Burnley played seven games in 21 days before their fortnight long break from domestic action - could take its toll.

    Robbie Blake, Lafferty's team mate at Turf Moor, believes the holiday should ensure the rest of Steve Cotterill's squad travel to South Yorkshire fully refreshed.

    &quot;With the last few performances we have had, it was just nice to have a break to recharge and then get going again and picking up the wins <div id="ds-mpu"></div>we need,&quot; the 31-year-old said.

    &quot;The performances haven't been that bad - what killed us more was the last two home games being so disappointing.

    &quot;We have started games well, got our noses in front and continued to push forward and get the goals.&quot;

    Grant McCann, the Barnsley midfielder who watched his team-mate sparkle from his vantage point on the bench, will doubtless be asked to provide the inside track on his compatriot when he returns from Scandinavia but Davey's men have good reason to start the match in confident mood.

    After a bright start Burnley have not won in five while Barnsley are unbeaten.
