Whatever next? Tuesday following Monday, turmoil at Sheffield Wednesday, fans taking a pop at managers ... Some things are just expected. Except at Barnsley, the region's club at a crossroads if ever there was one. Seven points from the relegation places, seven points from the play-offs; what next? Could be worse. But a strong start to the season will either be revived or chucked away in the coming weeks. Manager Simon Davey is well aware that too many replays of the second half against Norwich will drag his team where no-one wants to go. Norwich have been rock bottom already this season but on Saturday they fully deserved to be the ones shattering Barnsley's proud Oakwell record of nil defeats since August. Not that they were on top all game. Just way too much of it to comfort anyone Barnsley. True, Davey doesn't have the team he wants. Apparently only Derby County and Everton can change that with new release papers for Lewin Nyatanga, Jon Macken and Anderson de Silva. You would hope any back four in the league would have been clued up to watch Dublin at a corner. You shouldn't need Nyatanga for that. As for Macken, he remains a big miss at Barnsley. Miguel Mostto isn't achieving, Kayode Odejayi isn't scoring and Istvan Ferenczi was rested a bit more on Saturday. Michael Coulson, off the bench for a third time on Saturday, looked most likely to score against Norwich. With or without Macken, it's time to kick off with this kid. There's no doubt de Silva would walk back in to Barnsley's midfield. Davey went with Grant McCann, in for ditched-again Sam Togwell, and Brian Howard on Saturday. Plenty or creativity there but neither were a patch on Norwich schemer and game-winner Mark Fotheringham. He played the star part in Norwich's comeback and win. Back at the beginning. Barnsley were bright and winger Martin Devaney's goal for 1-0 was a dazzler. Huge credit went to left-back for the day Bobby Hassell who fed the ball in. Devaney cut inside a challenge, there was no second tackle and he left fly from 25 yards out. Keeper Marshall got glove-tips to it. No way was he going to stop it. It took a Barnsley goal to get Norwich going and, aside from Ched Evans shooting from distance, the best chance came as Lee Croft kept in a horribly hard ball forward from Jason Shackell. He kept his head too, chipping the ball up for a power header from Fotheringham. Heinz Muller wouldn't have had a chance had the attempt been on target. It was the first and last big Fotheringham flop. Two minutes after the break, 1-1. Dublin won it in the centre circle, Fotheringham took it on and found Evans in the box. The kid loaned out again by Manchester City whacked it through Muller, who had charged off his line pr <div id="ds-mpu"></div>ecisely like the textbook says. Barnsley had a massive let-off when Norwich broke, leaving three v one. </div>
2nd page............... Evans wasn't so clever then and the best Croft could do was tamely hit the post. Barnsley luck ran out with just about 20 minutes left. Stephen Foster, goal- getting hero at Scnuthorpe, was the last point of contact for Norwich to take the lead 2-1. Fotheringham's shot from 25-plus yards was going who knows where until it crashed into the Barnsley centre back. Up it ballooned over back-tracking Muller, in it landed. Red faces all around among the Red shirts. Redder still as Dublin settled the game 3-1. Fotheringham delivered a left-wing corner, Dublin did what he's been doing for the last near-on 20 years. He got in at the far post, headed down and in. The opposite post helped. There should have been a Dublin double. Darren Huckerby came off the bench and stormed down the right to put a chance on a plate for the 38-year-old. From around the six-yard line he somehow lifted it over the top. Davey threw on new signing Diego Leon, who looked a tidy footballer. Coulson injected pace but neither he or Ferenczi lo oked likely to unsettle a Norwich team who could well overtake Barnsley further down the line this season.
