Police say they have intelligence that some hooligans may be planning to cause problems tomorrow and extra officers will be on duty. Supt David Hartley, in charge of policing tomorrow's game, said: "There will be more arrests. There is no place to hide for anyone involving themselves in football related violence." Police are urging fans tomorrow to behave themselves and not to drink to excess. "Anyone who comes with the intention of looking for trouble will find themselves in police custody, then to court and then banned," said Supt Hartley. "What these arrests prove is that the police investigation does not stop on the day, we will pursue trouble-causers relentlessly and provide opportunity to reflect on their actions in a police cell. "I want to get a clear message to all supporters our aim is to support a safe and trouble free local derby, but must stress that drinking alcohol to excess and football do not go together. "This applies to supporters of both teams and we will take a strong stance against those trying to gain entry the worse for drink. They will be arrested and prosecuted through the courts. This is a public safety issue and one that the club and police are working together on." Police chiefs say they have planning for the match for weeks and all leave has been cancelled. Supt Hartley added: "I am aware from intelligence received that groups of individuals are planning disorder at this fixture. I will have 200 officers working the event to avoid the sort of disorder that was experienced in Sheffield following the recent fixture in December. "I intend to use all the resources available to me and the full range of legislation to enable those wanting to attend and watch a game of football to do so free from the threat of violence. I am satisfied the policing operation is robust and will <div id="ds-mpu"></div>deal with the many demands that will come our way." Video evidence gathering teams supported by officers in the CCTV room will be working to gather intelligence and evidence that will be used to deal with hooligans. Mobile CCTV vehicles have been drafted in to enable full coverage in and around the town centre. Fans have been asked to arrive in good time for the all-ticket clash because turnstile queues are expected. </div>
I Find It Dumb Of The Police........... to openly say ...... Police say they have intelligence that some hooligans may be planning to cause problems tomorrow and extra officers will be on duty. Now instead of catching the hooligans, most will be aware of this article and be extra careful.
Hooligans & Careful don't go together! Police always say the same thing before local games, keeps it in the idiots mind that they are watching them. Regardless of the statement though these idiots will arrange for it to kick off, just hopefully they do it out of the way of folk that just want to enjoy the football.
I am actually looking forward to Dreamboys posts these days They are nearly as good as the old Adam Hinchcliffe ones - only Adams were more plausible Ps "Police have intelligence" from the original post ...quality oh and I thought Drinking to excess and football went together very well on the way back from Liverpool
RE: How dumb can you get? Its not the original DB3K, he's probably dead by now, we only gave him so much oxygen in that grave we dug for him. We've hired Adam to pretend to be him and come up with loads of stupid messages. Seems to be working.
Was there any trouble at the last game? I'd hate to be caught up in that stuff.. No idea why but i didn't think Barnsley had hooligans nowadays.
Ahh right. I've never seen any trouble with Barnsley fans fighting. Only seen them getting thrown out for lobbing coins etc i hope it stays that way or i'll be scared to go to away matches
