Barnsley 2 Crystal Palace 0 By MIKE ELLIS
DANNY NARDIELLO has helped fire Barnsley to safety — and he puts his new-found form down to a total booze ban and a personal trainer.
The former Manchester United starlet has hit six survival goals in the last four Tykes games.
And for good measure he cleared two Palace efforts off the line as well.
Nardiello admitted: “It is going well for me. We are winning games and I am scoring goals which I hope will keep us up.”
The Welsh striker, 24, also praised boss Simon Davey and said: “The manager has been a big help.
“He took me to one side earlier in the season and pointed me in the right direction.
“I also employed a personal trainer — James Jowsey who was the Manchester United goalkeeper during my youth team days at Old Trafford.
“My fitness has improved and it is all looking good for the club, although we are not certain of staying up yet.
“The gaffer imposed a drinking ban on everyone — but if we can guarantee our safety next week against Leicester perhaps he will allow us a drink.”
Nardiello’s first goal after 15 minutes was a classic strike.
Then on 65 minutes he was felled by Matt Lawrence, only for Julian Speroni to save his spot-kick.
But the Argentine keeper was ruled to have moved off his line and Nardiello made no mistake second time round.
SUN STAR MAN - DANNY NARDIELLO (Barnsley). Striking masterclass.

Does it matter? It ended up in the back of onion bag! Every Barnsley goal is a great goal in my opinion!
the fact he started just inside their half and bet 2 defenders goes some way to saying it was a great goal...he showed his class at last by beating the 2 players then got the luck we havent had nearly all season to get the deflection!!!
think it was Napolean who said... ..."don't bring me good generals, bring me lucky generals"
A lucky card player will also beat a good player every day as well! I hope you have started saving up for the end of the season!

RE: A lucky card player will also beat a good player every day as well! as I said, it will give me great pleasure if I have to pay out £15 !!!
Welsh? He never been Welsh. He's from Stourbridge and was born in Coventry. Like Nyatanga. The Welshman from Burton. I'd qualify to play for the Republic of Ireland but that doesn't make me Irish.
