Commenting on the Semi final draw and how it affected Steele, he said the following

"Steele said: 'I was a little bit nervous before the draw, but it has worked out perfectly for me and I'm really looking forward to it.

'Knowing my luck, prior to coming here, it was going to work out against me and we were going to draw West Brom. It wasn't to be, so I'm happy. I didn't mind if we got Portsmouth or Cardiff, so I'm delighted.

<font size="4"><u>'Hopefully I'm going to sign at Barnsley in the next few days to the end of the season. That's the plan, so I will be eligible to play in whatever comes up.' " </u></font></p><font size="4"><u>

     </p></u>
    </font>

does this mean that Steele would be able for the final, should we get through (I know we will but don't want to tempt fate) and play West Brom (as is our destiny, 1912 and all that) that he would be available to play ?

I would imagine that both he and the club are aware of the rules. It might be perfectly possible to do that, if for example there is an agreement to sign the lad anyway and WBA have no further interest in him. Let's hope it comes about.

The only way I can see for Steele to play..

... is if he is released from his contract at WBA and becomes a free agent. We then sign him he becomes our player and can play. I've not researched this so feel free to pick holes in it.

Surely if he is a free agent at the end of the season there is no problem. The Final is after the season ends.

    Seriously?

Do you think WBA will sell him to us before the biggest game in either of our recent histories?

Just for accuracy - no it's not

The play-off final is the week after FA Cup Final. Good job we won't be in both !

    Big Lil mentioned that

as it is outside the transfer window, we couldn't just sign him from West Brom. He thinks Luke would have to buy out his contract from them and then would be a free agent so then could sign for us.

    Didn't say it was Gospel,

but Laura was asking if it would be possible for Luke to be a Barnsley player before 1st July and Kev just said he thought the only way would be for him (Luke) to buy out his contract.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound harsh

Because Luke Steele was with a club at the end of the last transfer window it means he cannot sign for another club until the next transfer window which doesn't open until after all the domestic games have finished.

    OK cheers.

Just have to hope that Portsmouth do us a favour then!
