Why do season ticket holders get so worked up that they are missing out on one game, cost wise? By payihg for a season ticket, you will have got the games far cheaper than the majority of fans who pay at the gate for the Forest game when averaged over the season. Can't get my head around the pettiness here, especially if the increased numbers help cheer us on to 3 vital points.

PS: I'm a season ticket holder and fully applaud the club on this one.

My opinion (which doesnt mean much)

is that barnsley always have at least one 'cheap' game per season, just like every other club in the league. I know that there will be one when I buy my season ticket so I can't see where the problem is.

I do think that season ticket holders should recieve a discount at the club shop but that isn't really related to the forest game being a fiver, I just think they should get one anyway if the club are going to give discounts for joining an independent supporters club that gives the club no money then paying £300+ for a ticket should give you the same discount.

I've got a season ticket - I don't care if it's £50, £5 or 50p to get into any game, some games or all the games on a match-by-match basis.

I paid my money, and that's it. I get first stab at away tickets and really like my seat.

Personally I'm just looking forward to seeing the place (hopefully) packed out and (hopefully) rocking on its foundations.

If I paid £290 for a sofa last May and it's now down to a fiver it doesn't mean that I didn't get value for money at the time.

I'm happy. Let's fill the old girl uppppppppppppppppppppp!

when I bought my season ticket

I bought it with the full knowledge that there had been offers in previous seasons so there more than likely be one or two this season. I'm pleased that the ground will be full and maybe the team will turn in a decent performance that will entice a few more to buy a season ticket next season. So all in all I think its a bloody good idea and if the odd one or two people can't see that everyone benefits from it, they need to get rid of their petty spectacles.

I don't have a problem with it either. But because our season ticket works out over 13 quid a game, it means for the Forest game we are being charged nearly three times more than pay on the day customers to watch the same match.

Or alternatively you pay the same price per game, but get the last six home games free. Therefore using your inane logic the Forest game is free for season ticket holders, as is the Wolves game and the Swansea game

You call for discounts for certain games, the club delivers then you complain. If it had been £10 then season ticket holders would have paid £3 more.

    Give it a break

I'm the same as you mate!</p>

I'm a season ticket holder, I also happen to be jobless and live 2 or 3 hours away, but I can't find myself joining in criticising the club because they have lowered the price of entry for one game! It's very much a good thing in my eyes

The comment that we give no money to club.
I admit we do not give large amounts but we do put money in via sponsorships etc.

I wasn't talking about the official supporters club

I was talking about penistone reds. Also when you buy sponsorship in exactly the same way that other companies do you are getting something for your money (exec box, meal etc), the gift of 10% off at the clubshop simply for joining your organisation is totally seperate and the club do not recieve any money from membership fees as I understand it. ie they are giving 10% off for no return. Season ticket holders pay £300+ and get no discount at the club shop.

The official supporters trust getting discount wasn't what I was talking about anyway, it was that a small group of fans (less than 50) decided to group together to arrange their own travel to games and the club suddenly offered 10% off at the club shop for them despite getting nothing in return. I don't see how that can be justified when it's own season ticket holders get no such luxury.

The club can't afford to keep giving away. Simple fact.

10% off at the club shop would be nice

Just like a group of fans from penistone get for being members of an independent group of people.

I don't care if the club reduce prices down to a fiver for the odd game (within reason), it fills the ground and gives us a better atmosphere. I think that asking for clubshop discounts with our season tickets is a totally seperate issue.

Didn't there used to be a discount in the Dennis era?

If they can afford to give a discount to members of an independent group that doesnt give any money to the club then surely they can afford the same discount to its own season ticket holders who have given £300+ to them?
