Here's mine, bear in mind - this is from WHAT I have SEEN ONLY. So the likes of Tommy Taylor, Ernest Hine would not be included.

Goal: David Watson

RB/WB: Nicky Eaden
CB: Steve Davis
CB: Arjan De Zeeuw
LB/WB: Darren Barnard

LW: Darren Barnard/Michael McIndoe
CM: Neil Redfearn
CM: Craig Hignett
RW: Martin Bullock

ST: Ashley Ward
ST: John Hendrie

Subs:

GK: Heinz Muller
CB/SW/MF: Matty Appleby
MF: Clint Marcelle
ST: Andy Liddell
ST: Paul Wilkinson
ST: Neil Shipperley

It was tough. There are LOTS more who deserve to be on that list, but for me - that is the best team.

What's yours?

Hehe that was intentional. I couldn't think of another Left Winger any better. But I'll stick McIndoe in with him, he was a good player for the short time we had him, and he scored against Leeds :D

Obviously a lot on here dint see Glavin play cos he would be the first name on anyones team list

Not old enough but what I've been told about Tommy Taylor there isn't going to be another No 9 either on the team list

Also that team has got to include Mick McCarthy, David Hirst...........and also Heinz Muller who in my opinion is a Barnsley all time GREAT...........I haven't seen a better goal keeper at the WELL............and we have had some good uns

David Hirst is an interesting one

Too young to remember him properly at oakwell but was he really that good at Barnsley that so many people have him in their all time great team

His record for Barnsley is 28 games 9 goals

I just remeber him as a perenially injured fowl

RE: David Hirst is an interesting one

watched Hirst come thro' juniors/reserves ( mate of mine was atBarnsley at same time so used to go along) - and into 1st team - one particular game v Charlton he absolutely murdered them. Was a mile ahead of anyone else at the time. Admittedly he was only here 10 minutes but he had the ability to go further than he did imho.

What didn't help I think was he had his ankle done in a tackle at Leeds - then took the strapping off during recuperation - had problems later on in his career, whether his ankle never repaired properly who knows ?

Him and Shearer had a half each for England v France, Shearer scored, Hirsty didn't - could have been different...

Ferguson wanted him, speaks volumes imho. Pity Barnsley never got the full benefit of his ability.

Strange isn't it, that apart from Muller, very few of the present crop get a mention.
