Groundhog Day is a 2006 comedy film directed by Patrick Cryne starring Simon Davey and Ryan Kidd. It was written by The UEFA coaching school and based on the principles of dossiers and being scared to lose.

In the film, Davey plays Barnsley's manager, a well qualified coach who, during a game against their hated rivals Sheffield Wednesday loses the game 3-0 yet finds himself given a 4 year contract and the remit of avoiding relegation repeating the same season over and over again. After indulging in all manner of new players from all over the globe, some of whom barely get a game, and one or two who have never seen a football before , he begins to reexamine his life and priorities. Yet carries on as before, talking as if he's just been given the job.

In 2006, Groundhog Day was added to the Barnsley film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. But mainly infuriating" Simon Davey is listed as the 174th most popular manager at the Barnsleyfc.org website. Except when they play Liverpool or Chelsea.
