He had an operation at the vets in Lincoln last Monday to reattach his triceps tendon to his elbow joint on his front left leg. Prior to the op his leg was virtually useless apart from being able to reach out with it, say to play with his toys, but he could not walk on it or place his weight on it at all. After the op he had a metal bar attached to the outside of his elbow, top and bottom, held together with screws to prevent any movement of the joint. This is to be there for about 8 weeks until the tendon heals, if, pray god, it does heal. All being well it would be removed once the vet is sure that the tendon is healed and that he can support his weight...... what a traumatic moment that will be !! In the meantime he is having to learn how to lay down comfortably, etc, but he also has to keep fairly active. ACTIVE... MY ARSE..... he wants to be up and about, walking round the house, out on the garden, on his lead for short walkies. There's no stopping him. We have to be very, very cautious and not let him do too much, but it is lovely to see him trying to bounce around on his three and a half legs. One day, we all hope , he will get his mobility back, if not in full then at least enough for him.... and us. He is wearing a cut off sock to keep his leg clean and dry so we will have to change it now and then when it gets a bit smelly. It's a green one at present but we've got all sort of fancy colours lined up. He's a right bobby dazzler.
