Failing any mishaps the vet had asked to see him at the end of January to check on his progress. The last time we'd been there was before Xmas. She was stunned to see his remarkable recovery, it was the first time they'd had to do a triceps tendon operation..... ever, so they have followed this very closely. She was so thrilled that she took him to the head vet who had done the operation and came back saying he was absolutely delighted with Fudge. He has been "signed off", only to return if problems occur. Fudge had lost all support of his front left leg after a serious fall in late August and at the time it was either amputation or take a chance on an operation that they had never done and that had a 50/50 success. We chose the latter. At the time there was nothing left to lose ! Now he is virtually healed and prancing around like a young pup again. He was out in the snow this morning full of beans as he is every day now, wanting to go out walkies at every opportunity. I take very great care that he doesn't overdo things, the slightest stumble and I catch my breath in panic, but he seems quite sturdy. The greatest blessing for me happened a few weeks ago when I was able to take both my doggies out together for the first time in months and to see them both toddling along like old times. Now it's expected of me ! So what with Brad and his one eye and Fudge with his leg it has been a traumatic few months for us all. They are twins, both 13 and a quarter (very important !) and I feel like I have been given a new lease of life with them. They are very important to me.
Thanks for the update, mate. It does this heart good to hear how well Brad & Fudge are doing after such a traumatic time for you all.
