Just been to fill my car up, diesel and just cost £87. I normally put I what I need, this time I thought I'd fill it up. So what do you do, fill it up each time or as and when needed. Plus cost of a full tank
Round number every time (makes it easier to add up for Mr Taxman ) Usually £20 or £30. Never really go over 3/4 of a tank as thats more weight to shift and less mpg How often depends on work.......back in 1995 once put £100 worth in in a week in a hired 2L Sierra
I normally just stick a fiver in per week. But when I come down for the matches I always fill it up, costs approx.£50 then top it back up when I arrive(another £30).
Depends what I'm doing, if I'm just going to work and back I put £20 in, gets me about 120 miles (about a week)...only do a proper fill up if I'm going on a long journey, which is rare to be honest as I prefer to relax on a train if possible. My fuel buying habits are down to not wanting to part with the £70 it costs to fill it up (somehow doesn't feel as expensive overall if I only put £20 in), the extra weight which must surely impact on performance and fuel economy (I'm always passing a garage so it's not like I'd have to go out of my way to put more in) and the fact that when the tank is full I tend to drive a lot harder believing in a weird way that the fuel will last me forever and I end up with some daft MPG average of about 28.
Is an LPG conversion worth doing do you reckon? Doesn't seem that expensive to do now, wondered if it seemed much cheaper to run the car?
I spend about 50 quid a week on petrol and usually mutter 'David Cameron, you're a c\/nt' under my breath as i fill up.
I fill mine up every time to reduce the chances of me committing suicide in the endless and moronic movements of the rush hour Morrison's queue by slashing my wrists with the yellow 1p a pound reward card
lpg is is about half the price of diesel and petrol,a conversion is about 1500 quid,if you do a lot of miles its worth it,you do lose power with lpg but its nowt to worry about.I've had a lpg tranny van for years
It all depends Jedstar on things like your annual mileage, mpg etc - you have to work out whether you are going to get your investment back. I have to have a 4x4 to tow caravans (I'm a caravan dealer, and can be towing a small caravan one day to the largest twin axle the next day), and I have a Range Rover 4.4 petrol converted to lpg. It converts my mpg from 17 mpg on unleaded to around 30 mpg on lpg. There is a little loss of power but as someone else posted on here lpg is half the price of diesel. I have heard you can get a conversion done for around £1,000 - or buy a car with it already done, if it has a certificate! PS I used to have a t reg Toyota Landcruiser and, although reliable as hell, did only 22 mpg on diesel. (Incidentally, the RR has never let me down).
