Seems like they can “buy” Harry Wilson from Liverpool for £12 mill but don’t have to pay Liverpool any money until 2022, to get round breaking FFP regulations. What a joke, hope they don’t get promoted and go bust.
I read something last summer, that said the vast majority of transfers are now done in installments. I think it was when Kieffer Moore was moving to Cardiff, I read something about Wigan still owing us a certain amount, which wasn't uncommon these days when most transfers are done in installments. I wouldn't say its 'cheating', but it's definitely being creative.
Think you should have to pay in full at the time. They've got the parachute payments as well, so they have the money.Hope the EGO come after them but I won't hold my breath.
True but I don’t think I’ve heard of a transfer whereby the player has fully signed a contract with a team but the buying team hasn’t paid a penny for at least 6 months.
I wouldn't wish injury on any player, but there would be some kind of natural justice if he broke his leg in the opening game and was out until next season.
I bet there are some though. I've not heard of any myself, but I know the paying in installments thing is quite common. West Brom are paying Huddersfield £2.5m a year for the next 6 years for Karlan Grant.
Seems to be common to do it in instalments but if you had to pay upfront then it would make a dent in the silly wages paid.
Fulham i imagine will also have the largest wage bill in the division this season. Mitrovic Cavaliero Knocķeart Mawson Onomah
this is a bit different than that. They have circumvented the rules deliberately based on their expectations that they will get promotion skewing the league even more in their favour. Normally they would make an instalment payment now and then others going forward instead they have delayed the initial payment because of FFP.
