When LJ signed John he said it was because he didn`t like playing centre haves at full back, as we only had Smith and Nyatanga to play there!
Ok fair enough , no problem with that at all, but here is my gripe, we could play a proper right back yet LJ keeps playing a centre half there, why ?
Strange !! Or maybe he just doesn`t like Centre Half at left back ?
I am not saying that Holgate is poor or any other thing, just why does LJ play a centre half at right back, but wont at left back !

I'm staggered that he's choosing to pick John instead of Smith. Not only does it go 100% against what I keep hearing we're all about (giving our kids a go, not borrowing others' kids), it's all the more baffling when our own kid (Smith) is a lot more effective at left back than John is.

In his interview tonight, LJ describes the 'soft underbelly' still in the squad and claims he won't be signing these types of players. Strange then that both John and Stewart look soft basterds, and, this chap signed Jacob ******* Mellis 9 weeks ago for League One.

Talks very well, LJ. I've been impressed with his interviews. But defeats and performances like the two this weekend and he's going to be scrutinized like this. And, like Keith found out once he left a tiny club from Lancashire, the pressure here is miles bigger.

Welcome to the reality of BFC management, Lee. And good luck with it.

My gripe is why did he leave out Smith who was part of a back four that had consistently kept clean sheets? John has been very poor defensively. I'll probably get slated for this too but I wouldn't mind betting we have kept more clean sheets with M"Voto in the side than without. He has his limitations but he gets in the end of most balls that come into the box. At this level every side needs that

Mystifying why we dropped Smith from a defence that was operating very well as a unit to accommodate John who as a full back makes a great winger. Still can't get my head round it.

I've been disappointed with what I've seen from John & Stewart so far. No better than what we already have, in my opinion. On the other hand, Iberhe (who had the least impressive CV) has been quite decent.
However, although bitterly pigged off with these last two results, I'm not going to go overboard with any criticism of the new gaffer. He's exactly the same bloke he was seven days ago when the majority of the talk was of reaching the Play-Offs. Just because he replaced my personal choice of manager doesn't mean I'm going to have a go at Johnson whenever anything goes wrong. Nor will I belittle that great run just ended because of it, either.
I was asking for Danny to be given the time to rebuild our squad and I'd ask the same for Lee to stamp his individuality on our club.

Yes, but you're reasonable and mature like that, Kev. Some of us are younger and a bit of an arse. :)

    This on a stick.

I just don't get what he see's in John as a full back that he doesn't see in Smith. Baffled.

Unless we're actually signing him in the summer, or, there's summat about Smith that we're not aware of, it's as baffling as it was seeing Tom Kennedy at right back instead of Bobby Hassell away at Derby last season.

The signing of Mellis worries me a lot because he is the embodiment of soft, the very thing LJ says he doesn't want.

He'll definitely go back to Oldham for Liam Kelly, holding midfielder and replacement for Pearson. You can bookmark this post. But other than that, I'm clueless regards his style of recruiting. I just hope Mellis/Stewart were panic signings.

Weren't Oldham sixth when he signed Mellis? A very strange signing indeed. I think you're right about him going back to Oldham for players in the summer. I wouldn't be surprised to see two or three players joining us.

I love it when normal service is resumed and we can slag off the managers selections even though it's worked for us in the previous few months

Kelly, O'Sullivan, Ryan Williams, Dempsey and Dagnall and if Chesterfield stay down, Darikwa at right back, best player I've seen this season other than that Alli lad at Milton Keynes.

We'll sign none. End up with Mellis. :)

Wunt surprise me if Adam Hammill ends up back here. I know LJ/Oldham asked about him before Rovrum took him on loan (who don't pick him much).

Staggered, Whitey? Does that simply mean he has a different opinion from you about their respective merits?

Well, it looks like he certainly favours John. And from what I've seen of them both respectively, I find it staggering/shocking/bizarre. Any better for you?

I have not slagged off any player, I am just mystified as to what he says and then does the opposite !
If we cannot have a discussion on here about things like this then shut the site down !

Tbf mellis proved he had the quality at times in the championship, but obviously not enough so you can kinda understand why a league 1 team would take a gamble on loan with him
