Some players really capture the imagination of fans when they sign and lead to an excitement about seeing them play. Others turn up and we expect them to be crap but they turn out great.

Name players who got you excited but turned out to be dreadful.

I'll start: Ian Woan - after his Forest days I expected him to be exactly what we needed. He was garbage.

Lumsden is a good shout though Extremely Northern. So is Garry O'Connor, monkey tennis (not sure I agree about Tinkler being ***** though - thought he had some really good games for us, maybe didn't reach his peak but I don't think he was ***** - each to their own though).

I was going to say Neil Whitworth's performances dropped off after his initial loan (Lumsdon-style) but I think my mind is playing tricks on me and he never signed permanently.

Your probably right, didn't the creators of Championship Manager give a lot of young upcoming players random attritibutes.
