LOL I was just about to post that link no goalkeeper on the books and they lost all 3 pre-season friendlies. Maybe they should have picked some teams more at their own level to play.
Can't teams get special dispensation for goalkeepers? If you're without a recognised goalie you can usually sign one even outside of the transfer window. Would this rule apply even under a transfer embargo? It'd be p*ss funny if not, mind!!!
They will be allowed to sign a keeper I seem to remember we had exactly the same problem when we were in admin and the only position we could sign was a keeper. Or is my memory playing tricks on me? Wasn't it Illic
Goalkeepers are always the exception They'll be allowed to sign one but probably only on loan rather than permanently.
RE: They will be allowed to sign a keeper I think they should have to sign Illic as well.
He could be like the "admin-only" goalie.

I thought that too but I couldn't remember who the keeper was. He was so good he's left me with absolutely no memory of him!
Who has to be able to recognise the goalie? I'd be rubbish - I wouldn't recognise Colgan if he was stood next to me, I think the only goalies I can recognise are Seaman cause of his pony tail and Schmeichel cause of his red nose, although I might get them confused with My Little Pony and Rudolf! Although if the person in question had a goalies shirt on and big gloves then I'd recognise him as being a goalie!
He was very good We were top of the league with him in goal, and he was playing very well. Then he said (in the press) he was fed up with living out of a suitcase and thought he was playing well enough to be offerred a contract. Thordarsson went mad, he was promptly sacked, we sold Rory, went on a losing streak and Thordarsson got the boot for being 8th in the table while we were skint and he could hardly sign anyone. Mind you I think Thordasson did lose the plot slightly, but I don't think he was wanted by the chairman who I believe had inherited him ... or is my memory playing tricks again. We replaced him with the messiah that was Paul Hart.
RE: He was very good Your memory serves you well, when Ridsdale got control from Doyle the writing was on the wall for Gudjon,he would have gone sooner had we not been flying high,Ridsdale just had to bide his time for the dip in form and pounce, which he got,Hart was waiting in the wings during those last few Gudjon games as he could be seen watching from the directors box with Ridsdale, subtle eh?
Yeah granted he couldn't kick, but we did well with him in goal. He was pretty good considering we had no cash. He was better than some keepers we've had since, and we were probably paying him buttons, we were broke. We could have had much worse at the time.
What I never understood was ... Why Ridsdale got a heroes welcome from our fans. Afterall 1) His financial past 2) ... with Leeds 3) It was clear that the manager we had was doing OK, and in the background he clearly wanted rid I know we didn't want Doyle, but ... that didn't mean I welcomed Ridsdale either or maybe there was more going on than a simple bloke like me would be aware of ... but all of those stories "that if only you knew" are still to be told. I always thought that on the whole Thordarsson did a good job, even though he had some mad moments. He knew the knives were out for him though, and he didn't play attractive football like a Paul Hart team would. He stuck 10 men behind the ball, a giraffe up front (Rory), kicked it long and the cavalry chased out of defence and we scored a few and kept clean sheets. Very effective but not pretty. Mind you he was probably just playing to the strengths of the players he had ... given he had no money. All that's irrelevant though, if your team doesn't play attractive football ... ffs
RE: They will be allowed to sign a keeper Wasnt Ilic one of the players who we signed to make the 20 man squad?

RE: What I never understood was ... We were doing OK until the fans got on Betsys back.
Oh and when Gudjon was actually allowed to sign players.

Betsy Definitely a confidence player, great if the crowd were behind him, so clearly would never make it at Barnsley. Just like Bullock the crowd came to expect too much of him, and when he didn't deliver all the time ...
