.................thought I'd start another thread on this subject because the original Troatman thread has got to 50 odd posts and is starting to get a bit too long to stay with it

anyway.............got to agree with Troatmans original post..............(even though he seems to disagree with everything I post)

Thing is we have been stuck in the bottom 6 now for years and because of this the fans have just had enough and stopped going.
Thousands of Barnsley fans sit at home when Barnsley are playing at the WELL

The only thing that is going to get us out of this mess and reverse this trend is...........MONEY

Unfortunatly the owner hasn't got mega bucks to pour into the club..........thats no fault of the owner
Blameing the owner for not having enough money is like picking on an ordinary fan and shouting abuse at them because they have curly hair..........its just something that cant be helped

The only blame we can throw at the owner is..........if someone has offered to buy the club and PC has refused to sell
But no one knows if this has actually happened so there cannot be any blame laid at the door of the owner

So in my view the blame game needs to stop
Everybody at the club is doing their best...........and in Flicker we have unearthed a fantastic manager

It appears that at the moment we are way way behind what other Championship clubs are prepared to pay their players...........hence the exodous of our best players over the last few years which has resulted in NOTHING being built within the team

So the only way that this club can climb out of this deep rut is if Flicker stays and a new owner can be found that has sufficient funds (which means sensible investment) to support the manager

    You're spot on.

Thing is nudger, this is what the club has needed for god knows how many years.

Unfortunately i can't see that changing anytime soon.

We all know the clubs not as wealthy as others and that things can improve but ultimately you have to **** with the ***** you've got.

We all know there's 1000s of gimmicks on the market to make it bigger but the majority don't work and those that do only leave you with long lasting health consquences.

Ploughing through 50 odd posts is like battling relegation year after year and selling your best players and never having any money to spend...disillusionment sets in and before you know it you'll be posting a cry for help on here..well according to some anyway.

You might have stopped going but I haven't. The fans haven't stopped going, it's the flakey lightweights that have stopped, not the true supporters. And don't give me that "protest" nonsense either, it doesn't wash. I'm going on Saturday, got my ticket, travelling up & will be a £100 lighter when I get home. That'll top me £2000 this season on football.

Not complaining, just say don't say the fans have stopped going, because they haven't. I've been to more matches because we are struggling and the lads need the support. I can't really afford to go but I do. If Barnsley are going down, I'm going down with them. Thick and thin, better or worse.

You can turn your back on your club if you want to. But get together with the Conans, Supertykes etc and form your own forum. Leave this one for the fans.

Good old Mr C - you'd put Joan of Arc to shame.

Two things - I haven't stopped going and nowhere in my post did I say had or was even considering it. Read my last post in the other thread and you might see where I'm coming from.

Secondly, you said the fans haven't stopped going. I'd suggest having a look at the attendance stats over the last three years.

that's right Mr Conan, the attendences have fallen dramatically and its down to hanging on by the skin of our teeth every season, selling our best players as soon as they've had a dozen decent games and not seeing any real investment put back into the team.
we keep getting told clubs are businesses, well from where I stand if you don't continually invest in your business you fall behind the competition and lose your customers and unfortunately this is whats happened at oakwell.it may get worse aswell because if we do go down we are going to lose some key players and even more supporters will get fed up,
A complete change of ownership is needed, but it looks ever more unlikely, unless relegation and dwindling crowds make the whole setup a cheaper option.

I must be one of the 'flakey lightweights' then. I started in 1974 and hardly missed a home match until the end of last season. In the late 70s and early 80s I went to most aways as well. I've had some incredible highs and in fairness not too many deep lows, but at the end of last season the cumulative effect of season after season of struggle had got me to the stage of feeling down about going it was making me very miserable. I decided not to renew my ST and I felt a bit traitorous but then I quite quickly got used to not going.

You may see me as turning my back on the club and I suppose you have a point although I still care about the results and the perilous league position. What would make me return to Oakwell ? I don't really know but NOT promotion to the Premier league.

Should folk like me leave the forum ? If it is to be a 'fans only' forum then probably but I've made mates on here both cyber and in the real world so I'm staying (stamps mi feet and paddys like a little girl) . I do though think you are a tad unfair on Conan as he does attend the matches and has a right to air his views.

Without BFC and this forum you'd never have met me. Ergo, a worthwhile reason to be involved with both...

No, you should not leave the forum. Neither should Conan, barmy as he is.

I was a bit two sheets when I wrote that, no offence meant!! I've had my lay periods too, but we do need to get behind the lads this Saturday. I should have just said that!! :D

I'd take longer to burn than she did. Bring some parafin. And cheer up, stop all the negativity, like Flicker says - it's draining. :)

That wasn't very nice, apologies for that. It must have been that glass of water I had when I got in, sent me over the edge. :)
