One hell of a film and experience - tense, gritty and raw with superb acting from all involved!

SS soldiers more incompetent than storm troopers

I don't recall any wars between America and Germany exclusively

Terribly misjudged scenes with female characters which made me lose sympathy for protagonists

Really? The SS would have ONE person look under the tank and an SS officer that has just seen a huge portion of his battalion killed would be sympathetic?

American revisionist chest beating didn't care for it, though some of the action scenes were well worked and satisfying to see play out

Whilst what you're saying is correct you can do down that route with many films.

One of my favourite films of recent times is Inglorious *******s which is far from accurate, you've just got to enjoy them for what they are. They aren't designed to be factual documentaries.

It was borderline ridiculous the amount of Germans killed by just 5 men though, not seen anything as daft since Liam Neeson killed about 500 blokes on his own in Taken.

Entertaining though & worth a watch

It's spelt Basterds. Filter doesn't bother about it then either.
