this weekend could have been one of those good Days for English sport. Mo's fantastic win yesterday and adding the lions victory made it a good start to the sporting weekend. Sunday started and England played two u20 matches, one in the Final of the u20 world cup in Rugby union and England started the campaign against Iraq. It should have started with the England Cricket team but due to the rain, rain and more rain the u20 England team started things off and beat the Welsh to win the u20 world cup. I've just seen that the u20's ended 2-2 against Iraq, what went off because the last i saw it was 2-0. On to the cricket. I thought England bowled well and apart from the odd fielding mistake before they went off due to rain costing them 5 runs. Came out and Bopara took a couple of good wickets but England dropped Kohli also. On to the Batting. Cook looked out of form, and Bell just didn’t get the strike for much of the first 7/8 overs with Trott hogging it and looking quite good. Root came in and looked quite good and then top edged a shot and that was it. Morgan and Bopara looked ok and then both got out in two balls. Bulter who’s the English finisher hasn’t done anything for 4/5 games no and England ended up losing by 5 runs. Really can’t comment much on the Football or the Rugby because I didn’t see much of it. Actually until I just checked I thought the England u20 rugby team had lost and the Football team had won. On to the cricket. A few things I noticed. Ali cook, so out of form in many of the games. People can blame Trott all they want, I thought he looked quite good today for is score and was slightly unlucky he got stumped down the leg side off a wide. I thought he tried to rotate the strike quite well in is short time at the crease unlike bell who once AGAIN looked elegant getting out for less than 20. He really is a problem in 50 over cricket. Yes he might get a 60/80 but it’s not often enough for someone with the talent of Mr Bell. Indian, New Zealand …. Commentators can say all they want how good he looks and they like him back home. He just doesn’t get the job done often enough. Root, very much like Trott rotated the strike well and really does run well and can turn a 1 in to a 2 and often does. Morgan looked ok again and you can’t blame him going for one of his shots. I thought Bopara looked really good in patches today. Also good with the ball and looked good whilst batting. 1 or two 6’s and a couple of fours. The ball that got him out would have been a wide. Just leave it Ravi and it goes flying over your head. He gets stick off people and I really don’t think it’s right. Good player just needs to believe he’s good enough and he could still become a very good England cricketer in all forums of the game although Ben Stokes will be eyeing up that role soon. Once Ravi was out then it was just going to be a India Win. Two spinners on that pitch. Bresnan, Broad and Tredwell might be decent batsman but they aren’t going to trouble the class of those two. ICC needs looking at. That was a 50 over game today and for 24 hours it was rushed in to a 20 over game with conditions not right for a final. The pitch, why have they prepared a pitch that the India’s would have dreamed off last night. Hopefully KP will be back for the next game because I think the teams close to doing something very good and hopefully it’ll be settled to have a real go in Australia in 2015.
Didn't see the cricket but isn't it an achievement to get to the final considering how **** everyone says we are ODIs?
No need for comments like that. The England team don't bottle things as usual. They are normally quite good at playing when the pressures on.
Your post above saying "No need for comments like that' It's good advice you should think about it before you critisize someone with a different opinion to you
No need to tell the truth? We bottled it good and proper and were like headless chickens for the last 5 overs when we should have comfortably won.
They don't bottle it all the time. Beat Aussies and india away. went to No1 in all formats at some point in last 12 months or so
