it is if and its a massive if the Guardian story is true and the test works as expected Im not going to get carried away just yet and even if it does all it says we still need to keep all those who havent had it under lockdown for now until the rising tide of new infections is brought under control
Definitely, but it would start to release people who have been infected to look after the vulnerable without fear of passing anything on, and for a degree of normality to return
Absolutely no doubt its a good thing and - assuming it works as hoped - it will allow us all to return to mostly normal much quicker than we currently expect as anyone suspected of being in contact can be tested and isolated if necessary quickly so we can all follow the South Korean approach and get the re-transmission ratio down to below 1
High street is such a bad idea because people will panic buy like everything else or people won't be able to afford to buy one. They should post them to people in their houses as quickly as possible like the tests people can already get posted to them when they reach a certain age.
agreed, when you pass 60 the nhs send out bowel screening kits. Surely it would be better to do this systematically testing essential first and gradually working through the queue as it were.
The first batches should go to the NHS directly so they can be used to test key workers and patients - once that is in place then they should be rolled to those self isolating ( so high street not a great idea) - Does anyone know if its a one shot test then throw away - or can it be reused
Absolutely a game changer, assuming it works as intended. Hopefully it will be similar to a blood sugar test in that the actual piece that comes in contact with the blood is disposable, so that one test unit can be used per household.
Sounds amazing. Would be good to have an order of distribution, but like Barnsley tickets for Wembley, etc, doesn't always work out that the most deserving get the first pick. 1) NHS workers working in ICU 2) other NHS workers 3) people working in distribution/sale of food 4) people self-isolating because they are ill/have been ill and their families. 5) people who are self-isolating and cannot work from home 6) Others working from home.
What I meant is that if it goes on general sale at pharmacies then the initial batch will be snaffled up by the tools that are already panic buying. This would be more so if it’s a one hit test.
The first three points people will be able to prove it. After that everyone else regardless will be claiming they are number 4.
Thing is as well, what proof do you have that you have the antibodies? People can just say they took the test and have had it so they can get out of quarantine!! Needs to be some kind of record.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...opulation-say-Oxford-University-experts.html? Lets hope that is true. Then once we can all be mass tested ASAP we will know the full situation.
This is really good news providing it works as advertised. Since scientists are involved (and not politicians) I have no reason to think it wont! For all it's faults (well mainly it's CEO and the poor pay of workers), Amazon is a real godsend and those delivery drivers and pickers are worth their weight in gold. As I've said for a long time, just because a job isn't highly skilled, shouldn't make it a poorly paid job. VALUE is king. I hope people will realise that after this. Those shop floor workers are irreplaceable. Edit: Oh yeah, and science - it's f!cking amazing.
