Its part of the World Site but for another club! but this is the message i got in a window This live BBC match commentary is being simultaneously broadcast on BBC Radio Sheffield. The Football League has asked us to provide our live local radio commentary to club sites. No part of the subscription fee is being paid to the BBC.
How many more times.. it's nowt to do with "not liking us" or "not serving South Yorkshire, my arse", it's to do with Radio Sheffield not having an agreement to broadcast commentry with either club. You can of course, pay £35 per year to get commentry via the web, that may or may not work or, if you can get Dearne, via Pele on his mobile.
My comment about not serving South Yorshire was really meant because as far as I am aware, since kick off this season, the only games that have been featured have been those of Weds and UTD, at least on Saturdays. What about Donny, Spireites and the Millers? Whilst I accept that we have no agreement with the BBC, surely these teams deserve a mention or a featured commentary at some point.
I'm not sure but don't forget that before we threw a little tantrum we were on radio sheffield quite regularly. We certainly had our fair share of the coverage. I reckon that they should cover matches more evenly spread between the teams but that won't happen because there are very few people who want to listen to rotherham but lots that would tune in to listen to wednesday and I guess much like the rest of the BBC they have to have programming that people will actually tune into to justify the licence fee. I think the main problem is that radio sheffield is intended to cover such a large and heavily populated area that its pretty much impossible for them to do it sucessfully while other BBC local radio stations have to cover a much smaller area/less populated area so they can tailor their programming to suit.
I agree Supertyke, I'm just being petty. I do honestly think that they gave us reasonable coverage. I miss all the build up and Football Heaven is struggling now. They don't appear to get many callers at all.
