As if we didn't already know here here's further proof that the whole football thing has spiralled out of reality! The mega-rich owner of Manchester City, Sheikh Mansour, met the club's players at his palace in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and presented each of them with a watch worth £168,000.
Surely if they were given in a different country they wouldn't? Might have to pay tax at customs on the way through though.
Possibly I seem to remember something about breach of bonus payment regulations and taxable incentives, not sure if that applies if abroad.
I know that the threshold is £300 in souvenirs So I would think the tax at customs would be in the region of £20k
Flog it when I got back and spend the money on expensive hookers.

Specially commissioned Franck Muller piece. Bet its got a footballer on it with a diamond encrusted kicking leg, summat like the one I had as a kid ;-)
What the Arabs haven't may not have grasped is that you can't buy success in football. My guess is that come next May there wont be a single trophy in the Man C. boardroom.
To be honest just about all clubs buy success When was the last time the premier league was won buy a team who didn't spend loads of wonga on players? You don't get Rochdale, Aldershot and Shrewsbury battling it out for the honours do you.
Barnsley's promotion to the premier league Ok, we broke the bank on Hendry at the time, but do you think it's fair to say we "bought" success. That "team" was exactly that.
RE: Barnsley's promotion to the premier league It's a very good exception to the rule, but in the scheme of things it was a minor success even though it meant everything in the world to us. We certainly weren't challengers in the big league where real success can be judged.
yeh agree with you gets me really mad when people accuse teams of trying to buy success, as you say all teams do this, liverpool, chelsea and man utd. Arsenal are worth a mention in that of course they spent big and have high earners that team that had the unbeaten season compared to man utd chelsea's and liverpools spending was fairly cheap so credit to wenger for that. However not spending since when everyone else has hasn't worked out too well for them.
