Apple tree has some sort of fungus. Little clumps of white stuff like cotton-wool starting from the base of the trunk. Part of the bark is coming off. Neighbour says it's caused by a moth invasion. What is it and if it can be treated where can I get the stuff? Thanks.
willkinsons in the Alhambra have a decent range of sprays and treaments for gardens. If not any garden centre should be able to help.
Could be Mealy bug - best guess without seeing it. Is it small pieces of 'cotton wool' undrneath a dark shell that's a bit like a seed case? They are sap sucking insects. Can be scraped off. Alternatively use appropriate insect spray that includes Mealy bug control.
Thanks. It looks more like foam shaving cream that's been sprayed on different parts of the lower branches.
