one of those players that as a fan I liked to watch, gives the same sense of enjoyment as Messi, George Best, Ronnie Glavin etc. In the FUBAR'd world of Premiership football he was one player I enjoyed watching. Respect gone right out of the window today - he hasn't turned up for training and says he is frustrated and let down by Tottenham. "frustrated and let down" ?????????????? by the club who have allowed him to shine and prosper, made him a full international, paid him the best part of £100k a week (a fooking WEEK ! !! ) for doing so, and more recently have let him take an extended break in a Marbella Villa "to get his head right" whilst the rest of the cream of the Premier League have been knuckling down * and getting stuck into a new season. All this after playing about 30 mins of pre-season whilst UNDER CONTRACT to the club who are "letting him down and frustrating him". Beyond belief. * "knucklng down in the way only these overpaid Prima Donnas can knuckle down. Rant over.
I admire any player who wants to become a better player and have ambition to play for one of the worlds biggest clubs but there's a right way about doing it. I don't like the way players feel that their contracts mean nothing, and to be fair Spurs are looking like a team who want to go to the next level. I don't see the attraction with La Liga at all, there's 3 or 4 half decent clubs but other than that it's piss poor. You can bet his agent is telling him what buttons to press! Agents, for me shouldn't be allowed in football, they're ruining the game just as much as foreign investment is.
Agree with you on all points. Loved watching him play these last couple of years, he's been absolutely sensational. I always thought he was decent lad too. He got some stick for diving, but I don't think in the majority of those situations he did dive. He got booked a couple of times when he was clearly fouled. And I thought he always came across well in interviews. But you can't just not turn up for work. Whether you're a professional footballer or work in a factory you've got to keep your employer informed, they're relying on you. It's bang out of order, particularly when they've put so much in to you in terms of training and wages. Not good form Gareth.
A lot of players have completely lost all grasp of reality. They're a set of greedy, selfish gits but football as an industry allow, and actually encourage them to indulge in such tasteless demonstrations of contempt so nothing will ever change. Utterly disgusting figures for somebody to play football; I just wish top flight football would implode and die.
Players want the security of the four year contract but at the same time they don't want to be tied to it should a better offer come along. Disgraceful.
if i were a betting man, he'll be surrounded by parasites and despicable agents, all giving advice in attempt to earn them as much money as physically possible. **** the premier league
