How many other people does he annoy with his co-commentating? At one point I thought he was going to start referring to Stoke as we and us as they. He was at one point urging Stokes wingers to go for goal and cross the ball over to Sidibi. Good to have a bit of unbiased commentary now and again. Made it out as though Livepool where playing Donny or something like that. He’s always the same. Remember the play off final when somehow we where little Barnsley against massive Swansea and the so called unfashionable underdog won. Since when have Swansea been a bigger team than us and who finished above who in the league.
Disagree He gave us a lot of credit and praised us on a number of occasions. It's up to a neutral commentator to be suggesting what the team who's losing should be trying to do to get back into the game. The fact we always seem to be winning when he's summarising - eg Forest last year means he's always doing this. At no point that I remember did he say anything pro-Stoke and anti-Barnsley, and I've watched it twice.
RE: Disagree I have to agree with RED on this. However it should not be too suprising, You get a job with Sky and part of the deal for Sky to make the greatest profits, is that ideally the Prem/Championship should contain the 'biggest' and best supported 44 team in the country. This makes it easier for them to plug their matches and attract more viewers/subscribers. So, SKY will encourage a commentator's comments to be subtley skewed towards the so called bigger teams. It's called trying to please the majority most of the time. It's essentially what Radio Sheffield do with both Sheffield Teams although overall, I don't think the Reds do too bad on either Radio DeeDah or Sky in terms of amount of/fairness of coverage. Now coverage on BBC TV and Yorkshire TV is a different ball game - BFC certainly seem to be patronised on the few occassions they do get a mention and come out usually as Yorks poor relations. Did anyone see Calender when they filmed the play off celebrations on the Bank Holiday Monday? They couldn't get the players names right and there were numerous other errors in the presentation. Bring back Derek Dougan on Football Special and the days of Ronnie 'GALVIN' - Quality ameteurish production to rival 3-2-1 and Bullseye!
RE: Disagree I agree that BBC TV's coverage of us is abysmal, but last night Gary Birtles did not make one comment against Barnsley and favouring Stoke that I heard. People get an idea in their head and that's it.
