I've just been watching Gary Speed's football focus appearance on You Tube and whilst I'll readily admit to not being an expert on mental health I can't see anything at all to hint at the suggestion that this is someone who only hours later was going to take his own life. There were no long pauses as he spoke, he looked completely happy - it's absolutely bizzare. I suspect that there'll be a media frenzy come the inquest and I can't help but think this could all have a touch of David Carradine about it. That would perhaps at least make some sense in that it was a terrible accident rather than him choosing to end it all. I have to say that nothing I've seen would suggest that he was a potential suicide risk.
Watch it again right from the begining. Watch his hands shakeing like mad and never still while ever he's talking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OIg_rIj_vM
And the bags under his eyes, more so than usuall for him, I think lack of sleep or signs of stress unhappyness RIP Mr Speed
I have heard some right ballax today regarding Gary Speed`s death, from kinky sex games, his wife left him, it was a robbery that went wrong, one evn suggested it was because he was going to be outed as GAY!! FFS, let the lad rest in peace!!
I've watched it a couple of times and I cant see anything that gives the remotest clue - looks a fairly relaxed and normal interview
Does it matter if you can see anything or not in the clips? The lad has killed himself and I for one hope we never find out the reasons behnd what drove him to it. It his families decision to tell the public or not based on whether it helps them in their grieving process.
well he had most of what life could offer so he must have been dreadfully unhappy to do it. However there are thousands of people who struggle along in everyday life and these people surely have a much harder life than Gary had ? If everyone who ws unhappy ended it all then there would not be a lot of people left. Mental state i suppose and whether we ever find out why is another question. RIP
That's the important bit. You just can't tell with depression, I'm not a doctor obviously but that's what people who've been through it seem to say on TV etc.; it's an illness that doesn't always have to be linked to what's actually happening in life.
I very rarely reply to this guy cos most of what he posts is just idiotic drivel, but this post just shows what a truely idiotic jerk he really is. Some one said earlier that unhappiness isn't depression, that's true, no comparison. Depression is a very very serious and dibilitating illness, much misunderstood, untill you have suffered from it, and I hope you never do, you will never ever understand it so it is best to refrain from making very silly remarks like those above. PS. Hope this helps. PPS. Tip some cola in your ears and claim for a new brain on the insurance.
well old chap...the more i think about the situation, i am beginning to think 'how could he do that to his sons?' they are the ones people must feel for now.......gary has gone and his children MUST be the priority! hope this helps
''well old chap...the more i think about the situation, i am beginning to think 'how could he do that to his sons?' Once again you display the fact that you haven't a clue what you are talking about, when in the grip of depression all rational thought does not exist, it doesn't matter what riches you possess, material or emotional, it doesn't matter how much you are loved by family and friends, or how much you love them, depression can hit you like a sledge hammer and there is nothing you can do about it, if you are lucky, you will be able to control it with medication but there are many many people out there, that, for one reason or another, do not seek help. What I do agree with is that his sons and his wife are the ones that are the priority now, god alone only knows what they must be going through. Bereavment of any kind is devastating but in these circumstances it is truly tragic. Some one posted a link to a tweet from Stan Colleymore, posted ironicaly 3 hours before the incident, it makes very painful reading, I suggest you find and read it without making a judgement and try to understand what he is trying to convey. I used to think he was an idiot but after realising he is a sufferer and reading that tweet my heart goes out for him.
It hasn't yet been said whether Gary Speed was depressed or not. If one of the stories I've heard is near the truth, this was a decision he came to after events on the night.
You're right W1zzi0, it could be any number of reasons, but my reply to the reeve was about him making his usual kind of idiotic post on a subject he clearly has no knowledge of. No matter what the cause was it is still a tragic thing to happen, I still cannot get my head round it.
If you Google "Gary Speed Rumours" you will find numerous stories of a similar nature doing the rounds.
